I'm currently on the chase for a Galactic but I've never seen one in person

Is there a certain year/set I should be chasing?
Are some better looking in person than others?

I know it can be subjective but any opinions will be appreciated to help me decide.

Bonus points for sharing a photo of your favourite variation.
 
Hey mate, in my opinion the first two years are the best looking. 15-16 is pretty tough to find but they have a nice gold finish as well as the galactic pattern, and in 16-17 the galactic pattern pops really nicely. I'm attempting the set of 15-16. Here's some photos:

Legend! Just what I was after. I'd found a 15/16 card that I was holding back on picking up but confident enough to pull the trigger now
16/17 is next in line.

Just be aware that the 15/16 didn't have the insert name on the back like subsequent years.
The only way to discern them is from the pattern, so make sure you checked the photo's closely.

While not as pretty as the supernova insert, I quite like this one

The 1st LeBron Galactic would be a sure fire bet.
 
Galatics have always interested me being a SP'ed parallel without numbering, reminds me of collecting as a kid. Never seen one in hand so not much help relating to the op's question, but would like to check one out sometime
 
Purchased my first Galactic. So pumped and can't wait to get the card in hand!

An Aussie legend and if I'm not mistaken it was the championship year.



First Galactic, First Delly, First Cavs Player to the PC.

Going to add more players from other years eventually but lower on the want list for now.

Just got my first look at a 2015 Galactic in hand and now I see what all the fuss is about. Really, it's absolutely stunning!!

It looks like a different card depending on where the light hits, it's like having 3 cards in one.

It's my new favourite card/set.

*I'll let @Scala share some glorious pictures once he collects it.
