Yeah, it was Pat Riley's great idea; he was trying to imitate the NHL, who retired Gretzky's number from all teams, by retiring the number of a player who didnt play for that team. You cant really do it for Jordan if Russell, Chamberlain, West, Magic or Bird didnt have it happen for them; also it prevents young stars, such as LeBron, wearing the number in homage to Jordan.

It was originally wizard blue and chicago red (i think), but i think its a Chicago jersey now...
