What I meant was:
O.k. So there's a common set of about 100. Then there is a parallel set of 1/1 Auto's. So you have the CHANCE to pull an Auto of parallel of every common card in the set.
There are serial no'd sets of Game-used that you have a chance to pull as well. Judging by the amount of GU and Auto's, I wouldn't think they'd make sure you get one per pack.
However, you are guaranteed a GU or Auto per pack on average of the SP Game Used packs.

get him to declare a smaller value.
if not, youre looking at ~200+ easily just on customs

so around 10% of purchased price. How do customs know of how much you paid for it and how would he declare a smaller value

customs takes the declared value by the sender and add on shipping and insurance.

if the guy declares a small value (say 100usd) there is no customs fee

If the seller agrees to declare a purchasing price of under 1000 would customs see right through this. If I get caught what are the ramifications

im not a law expert, but i think the responsibility belongs to the seller/declarer.

technically you can argue they are cards and are worthless however it is something worthwhile checking out if worried.

oh and depending on the price, ill be in a couple of boxes

I'm trying to keep the prices per box under 210 at most preferrably around 200 or less but this customs thing has thrown all my figures out.


Does anybody else know about ramifications for declaring a false purchased price

Easy way to remember Customs Duty -

You will pay duty if the Declared Amount (inc shipping and insurance) is over $250 and shippied via a courier service. If the Declared amount is over $1000 and shipped via the postal service you also pay duty.
It is obviously better to get sent via Post!!

Also there is a risk in getting the seller to declare a lower price (other than getting caught!!) and that is if the package gets lost you may put your insurance at risk(if you had any).

Technically cards are "prints"....so maybe duty should be free!! Now I'm second guessing myself!!!

Be carefull with declaring a different value. A mate of mine from work got picked up on this. He bought a Turbocharger from a store in US and the sender declared $100, when it was bought for over $1000. Someone in customs must have picked up on it because they would've known what it was etc and roughly the price they sell for. The sender also changed what the description calling it a truck part too disguise it.
Didn't pan out though. The mailing centre held onto it until the issue was resolved. I think he had to pay over $100 in taxes/duties in the end to get it.
You might get away with it, but I wouldn't risk it.

i don't mind what happens guys.. i'll happily buy a box, just knowing how many packs/cards are in one box and how much it'll cost.. but i'll need to talk to whoevers in charge about payment..

Hmmmm, tough one.

I know there's been many a discussions about a group purchase for a case, and how to distribute it etc, and then of course the infamous "Customs".

I've not had a problem personally with importing boxes from US.

It'd seem really obvious to me that if the Seller declares a much less value on the product, then yes, it MAY put a clause in on the insurance.

I dont think that Customs are all that strict on basketball cards, they are on the TRADING cards (all those kiddies one's Yo-Gi-Oh or whatever it is). Apparently there was a HUGE shipment sent around that were counterfeit.

Anyways, it's not good to "make up" amounts if you're gonna be stressed about losing the product, and ur money....

It'll turn up, the most you'd have to pay would be $100-$150AU.

Mavsman, did you have to pay customs/tariffs when you purchased your boxes in the US.

Also, I emailed customs about tariffs for the case and this was there reply

If the TCO is applicable then the cards would be free of duty. The GST
(Goods and Services Tax) is 10% and is calculated on the sum of the customs
value + the customs duty + freight or postage costs incurred in moving the
goods to Australia.

it would appear that if tariffs were imposed then custom taxes would be somewhere around 220. This is huge and worrying. I'm still waiting for the cost of shipping the case here so I haven't figured out a final cost yet.

Also, does anybody know how much is insurance and how much to ship a box within australia from brisbane via Aussie post.

you have to pay at least 10% of the total declared value+shipping+insurance if it qualifies for customs charges, so the minimum will be 200 if the case costs 2k.

OK guys, one last question. Since this is a very expensive purchase, and my first over 200 dollar purchase, is it worth it insuring the case. What are the chances of the cast not comming here or being damaged.
