Lets hope it can work this time. Dont really know why it was canned i mean if the NBA can let Bosh and LeBron land in Miami then y not Paul in LA?

^because the NBA owns NO, if Paul leaves so does millions, no business owner is gonna let that happen.

Adding to that, the trade as currently structured, would've given the Lakers the best player by a margin in the trade, WHILE allowing them to clear around $20 from their salary cap, and saving them the same approximate ammount in luxury rax, which would've been divided between all teams who DIDN'T breach that threshold. At least thats what I gleaned from a thread on RealGM on the topic.

As has been mentioned, the other 29 teams have a stake in the Hornets. So Paul leaving with them taking on more salary with older players would've made it less financially attractive to prospective buyers. And the 27 owners without a player stake in this trade would've lost money on the Hornets, AND missed out on the Lakers luxury tax, if they were in fact eligable for it. And the owner who seeming took the lead in pressuring Stern to nix the deal was the Cav's Dan Gilbert, who most certainly should be under the luxury tax threshold with the team as per program.

Jeff Green signed 1-year deal worth $9 million with Celtics, source said. He did not sign the mere qualifying offer.

Seriously?? After him looking like a deer in the headlights after he got traded there and Boston already acquiring Bass (although losing BBD) and also going after DWest!? Seems strange to me.

Changing my Jeff Green write-up with news that it's for $9 million. With tax, Celtics now paying $18 mil for a backup small forward. Yuck.
