2008-09 Select Cricket Cards!!!!!

Despite having the lowest sales and popularity of any Select card series last year. Select and Cricket Australia are bringing out another Cricket set for the 2008-09 Series.

I just hope the arent so many darn inserts to chase down!!!!

werent too many inserts this year, one case pretty much gave you a Master Collection, excluding 3 of the 5 superstar signatures

lol, i was going to buy the case card from al's card shop for $40 but they didnt have it.

Then on ebay i saw it for $50 but the bidding was too high. I sold all my inserts except the honour awards. Worth $20 each!

I got em for $5 each.

I had a very good time buying and selling boxes, as i didn't really like the cards, out of 6 boxes i received 3 signature redemptions cards, as i bought the boxes for really cheap of a fantastic ebayer, i was really happy, they sold well, i think this year i will be after a few cards of young and upcoming cricketers, but in all honesty, even though these cricket cards are good, they are never a really big hit with buyers as are AFL cards.

nah, i just emailed cricket australia to ask them who will be distributing their cards this year.

Try email select. You would expect there will be autos.

I got individual boxes of MarcWalmac but i think he changed his username to Bicmac888 or something, he sold me individual boxes for about 70 a box when they were in their prime.

I was pretty dissapointed with the Cricket cards last year...glad theyre doing a run this year, but i hope theres better inserts

Well the signatures are always class, i am going to try and get some of the first numbered signatures this year if possible, and try and get a very low redeemed signature.

This year guess there will be less inserts. 45 of them were the world cup hatricks.

yeah i bought the case on release day and redeemed the cards nice a quick, got #4 for both of the sig redemptions I got

some guy was selling the full base set + all inserts (excluding case card and signatures) for $550 on the Bay once. Should of pounced!

I am new to collecting, but very interested in collecting this year's cricket cards. Can someone help with an explanation of how they worked last year (I know it will prob be different this year).

I am particularly interested in what the sig redemptions are and how they worked

I will try and explain last seasons set to give you an explanation.

There are 500 cases, 12 boxes per case, 32 packs per box, 8 cards per pack. so there for:

6000 BOXES
192000 PACKS
1536000 CARDS

BASE SET:
well you have your base set. These cards are very common in packs. They are worth next to nothing by themselves but you can buy a base set for -/+ $20. Last seasons base set was of 120 cards. Consisting of the Test Team, ODI Team, Contracts, State Players KFC 20-20 as well as world cup and ashes highlights. The cards focus on the previous season.

INSERTS:

HOLOS:
Then you have your parallels (holoviews). An exact copy of the base set but with a foil covering. They are found on a ratio of 1 per pack. A full holoview set costs up to $100. Alone there worth $1-$1.50

WORLD CUP HATRICKS:
Then there was 45 World cup hatrick cards. the cards were of the 15 players from each of the 3 world cup wins. The 2007 set of 15 had gold signatures on them and look great. They are on a ratio of 1:6 packs. Worth about $5 each

MAN OF THE MATCH CARDS:
Specky looking cards. One for each ashes test match and world cup game australia played (16). Found on a ratio of 1:10 packs. Worth $6-$8 each.

HONOUR AWARDS:
4 cards for man of the world cup and ashes. Ashes victory and world cup victory. Found 1:32 packs (or 1 per box). Worth $15-$20 each.

SIGNATURE REDEMPTIONS:
5 players. 200 of each player. In a pack you will get a card saying "Brett Lee Signature redemption" You send this into select and they return you with an numbered Autographed card. Worth up to $250 each.

CASE CARD:
This card does not come in the packs but in the boxes/cases (im not sure) there are 500 of them and theres 500 cases so....? Worth up to $50.
