very nice looking cards. Which reminds me. i was thinking of running a competion where members combine their computer skills and creativity to create a scanlens card (so simiilar style to the ones of old) but with modern day players. thought it would be a bit of fun
Yeah its in the list Dan... Just as a watcher this time I think, trying to remain focused...
I have emailed him though about going to have a look at them as he lives in Brissy too, if he is close by then there isnt much harm in looking... is there?
Look in pretty good condition for their age. Obviously cornering issues but doesnt look like any creases, the cards are well centered. I saw 7 go for $55.90 the other day.
There are plenty of mint sets of 1965 around Liam - problem is most are tucked away in private collections and not often for sale.
One sold about 6-9 months ago on Ebay - dead mint with 2 or 3 cards signed (which ironically may have lowered the price a little as the cards are no longer in mint condition according to some collectors) - it went for $1400 from memory.

At that price, i think i could live with a good to near mint set
The seller of these cards lives about 20 minutes away, and is happy for me to go view them, so if I get the time this weekend I might go check them out.
Thanks guys, I have been waiting a long time for this set to come up complete - I must say I had no desire to put these together one by one. I just hope the condition of them is what I'm hoping they are - always hard to part with that sort of money without having them in-hand to inspect first.
I very nearly missed out on putting my bid in actually - my wife had our first child last Tuesday - a girl, and we named her Sophia Jillian (my mum died of cancer last year and her name was Jillian). I was in the middle of giving her her first bath and I had to excuse myself (made some excuse to the wife about how we should share this moment, so she should take over) and put in a bid on my phone......and came up trumps!!
So a nice double celebration for me - all in the one week!!
Wow Many congratulations on the great news!! oh and for the kid too!!
No really, all the best with the family mate! i bet you will have plenty of chnce for late night bids hey!
We were still in the hospital Tim - with the midwife right next to me making sure I was doing it right!! It was a tough situation to sneak away from - but I had to get that bid in!!
The things we do for our hobby!!!
And Dan - i'm all over the last minute bids on ebay.co.uk - I am seeing the end of all of them!
No need to set the alarm to get that bid in at 4am at the moment!!
Thats absolute gold the way you won them Will be a great story to tell to her when they eventually get passed down!
Not too happy about having a contender for the ebay.co.uk late night/early morning bids, I have been onto them for the last 6months myself
Auction snipers are great tools, but nothings beats winning it in the last seconds yourself... I set up another ebay account though, when I opened up my goofbay account... Won me this little auction this morning while I was sleeping
By the way - when you guys win an auction do you look in the bid history and think that if the second highest bidder didn't put their bid in just how much cheaper you could have got the item for? With this 1965 Scanlens set, the 2nd best bid was for $700 with 2 seconds to go - if this person did not bid I would have got the '65 set for $358!!
