Re: 2008-09 Cleveland Cavaliers Season Thread

What's your thoughts on L.James and his contract which I think ends 2010?

Will he stay?

Re: 2008-09 Cleveland Cavaliers Season Thread

They didn't improve the roster at all and they didn;t get there last year, so I'd suggest they don;t make it again.

Re: 2008-09 Cleveland Cavaliers Season Thread

I think he will stay.

Though the rumours of NY and JZ is everywhere, I think he'll follow in Tim Duncan's path. :D

I would love to see him in New York but he's a Franchise player & should stay where he is. I'm not full bottle on the Cavs & their lineup but I'm certain he needs a better sidekick.

I thnk Mo Williams' addition is an improvement. Though time will tell if they really have it or not but I think they can win it all.

I know... But at the moment he's got MoWill... And I'm happy with that.

Mo Will is just another PG to fit into the PG committee. He won't get the ball like a true PG because Bron is the type to dominate the ball. He's a slight upgrade, but really just an overpaid Daniel Gibson. You really needed to upgrade the frontline next to Z, but alas you have a Ben Wallace there who will further decline this year, so that anything you gained from Mo, will be equalled by the decline of Wallace.

West will be a shining light I predict though :)

I see your Point...

And same re: West, I'm looking forward to see his contribution to this team... I think he will help the team alot. :)

Re: 2008-09 Cleveland Cavaliers Season Thread

nice write up, should be interesting to see how the cavs go, i have them pencilled in for 52-54 wins this year, with lebron in top 3 for MVP voting

Re: 2008-09 Cleveland Cavaliers Season Thread

Of course they "can" win the Eastern Conference, but that doesn't mean there is a high probability of it actually happening. No doubt they're a strong team and I look to see them up near the top of the Eastern Conference, but I think they are still missing a piece to get the most wins in the regular season.

The playoffs is a different story, and LBJ = the contribution of 2/3 of the Celtics BIG 3 haha (let's not get too literal I'm just trying to say how much he does and how much value is on him), so yer we'll see.

Mo Williams is an overpaid Daniel Gibson?

Daniel Gibson isn't half the player Mo Williams is, and probably won't reach that level for at least 3-4 seasons let alone ever if he does.

Williams can shoot the rock, get to the hole, distribute the ball and score with the best of the point guards. I'm not saying he's an All-Star but he's a serious upgrade and close to being an All-Star..

Wow.. an overpaid Boobie....

Re: 2008-09 Cleveland Cavaliers Season Thread

So the games tomorrow are actually the first of the regular season? Woohoo!!! As for the Cavs, I think they can possibly win the East, but I'm also interested in how the Raptors ans Sixers go. I think the Pistons are getting old, the Celts to a certain extent also (plus a bit of depth loss...), and Washington don't scare me for all of their "three-headed monster" talk... But either way, it'll just be good to see ball on TV again...

He won't stay. The marketing and money potential is in New York, plus he stated that Cleveland wasn't on his fave 5.

Cleveland won't win the Eastern conference. It's likely Boston or Detriot.

Yup, the "marketing potential" is in New York, just like it was 20 years ago. And that OBVIOUSLY had a disasterous effect on Jordan's career, huh? Oh, wait! No, Jordan CREATED the Chicago market... What makes you think Lebron can't do the same?

Re: 2008-09 Cleveland Cavaliers Season Thread

chicago is a much larger market than cleveland unfortunately

Well it is now, but I hardly think before Jordan most kids wanted to play anywhere but the Knicks/Celts/Lakers for the most part, and obviously the investment dollars centralised around these markets too. I've got no idea about the size of the cities in question, but I think a lot of people are of the opinion that Jordan made the Chicago market. I mean, do you think if the Cavs reach the Finals/win it this year or next, other big name players/brands will stay away because "it's Cleveland"? Hell, people move to Mount Isa for an increase in pay, I can't see Cleveland being THAT much of a back-water town...

Williams can do those things, when he has the ball. But this is Bron's team. He may as well be Boobie if he doesn;t have the ball, but he's being paid much much more.

And Williams an All-star? PLEASE! The guy wasn;t an Allstar when he had free reign to do whatever he wanted at the Bucks, and even then he only put up 16ppg and what...6-7apg?

Next you're going to tell me Jason Williams was an Allstar caliber player
