Basically Sir Charles is saying that aussie rules players a crazy for being exponentially tougher than NFL players and that AFL salaries are nowhere near NFL ones.....pretty obvious stuff and not really much to it.

He simply made the point for professional sportsman that play hard and take risks with their bodies, they are extremely underpaid compared to US sportsman.

Fair point from Charles point of view considering he loves his money. You just can't compare the two markets though as NFL rules the roost in the US as far as sport goes.

He was actually talking about NRL. He went with Russell Crowe to watch a South Sydney game.

In an extended version of the ESPN radio interview from September, Barkley speaks about seeing Souths play the Titans at ANZ Stadium.

"Russell Crowe owns the team. We took his boat down at the water and we drove up to the Olympic Stadium, it was really awesome,'' he said.

"They play real football down there, they're nuts. They play football without pads.

"If they gave these guys NFL money, it would be different but these guys don't make the same money. To play football without pads is the nuttiest. It's on TV every single day. They don't play for money, they play for pride and do it every week.''

the nrl isn't on the global scale as an nba or an epl. we don't have the population to support the wages they should receive.
