On Monday, shortly after completing its activation around 2013 Fan Expo Canada and in conjunction with the 2013 NHLPA Rookie Showcase, Panini America is officially dropping the puck on the season-long celebration surrounding the company’s historic NHL Double Rookie Class by enlisting the services of two young stars likely to be key drivers of the #PaniniDoubleRookieClass: Tyler Biggs of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Jonathan Drouin of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Biggs (the 21st overall pick in the 2011 NHL Draft) and Drouin (the third overall pick in 2013) will make a special appearance Monday afternoon at Toronto’s 401 Games to sign special Panini America photos, to promote the Panini Double Rookie Class and to interact with the hockey fans in attendance. The signings will take place from 4 to 5 p.m. on Monday and the players will be limited to signing only Panini oversized trading cards.
“The 2013-14 season is going to be huge for hockey collectors and one of the major reasons why is the anticipation for this Double Rookie Class,” said Jason Howarth, Panini America Vice President of Marketing. “We’re thrilled to be able to celebrate this banner season by delivering not one, but two future NHL stars to hockey fans as part of our involvement with the NHLPA Rookie Showcase. Panini America is equally excited to be delivering a full calendar of NHL trading card products for the 2013-14 season.”
