I've seen a lot of autos claime to be authenticated by GAI and psa/dna lately that are obvious fakes. The sellers use fake GAI certificates with fake verification numbers on them. Anyone that buys one without checking the GAI database deserves to be ripped.

Take this auction for one. A Wilt auto at a crazy price of $130US.

The GAI number for it is apperently 92003.

But when you put that into the GAI link below.
http://www.gacard.net/certcheck/certcheck.asp

It comes up as a Certification Number: GV92003 Item Number:
Item: 8X10

Item Description: CAL RIPKEN JR AUTOGRAPH

Just goes to show that you can't be too carefull even when you think you are dealing with an item that has apparently been judged by one of the top companies. Some scumbags simply make up their own certificates. All his other items have different serial numbers on the certs and none of them match. :^o

Just a heads up to anyone planning on buying autoed jerseys, photos or balls etc. Do your homework.

Thanks man!!

Probably something I'd do. Unless of course it's like this with the obvious stupid amount....

I do laugh a bit about that particular auction... A Wilt auto'd pic of him being swatted.... LOL.

hmmmm.. gotta hate those fake auctions.. that's why i never buy auto's which aren't on cards specified for that set.. can't be bothered to do the research and too high risks..
