FINALS: GAME 5 EAGLES vs MAGPIES

I THINK you will lose by 7 goals plus. Ill eat my words if you dont. Judd will get dropped, maybe it will come out that hes being 'rested' but he will want to play but they know they cant afford to keep him in the team.

You might want to get that fork and knife out then mate to eat your words

how was that not deliberate agaisnt Buckley?!?!

I agree - and I always hear the umps say "he was unde rpressure" as a reason not to pay it - but every kick that goes 40 metres or 15 metres or whatever and out of boudns has done so due to pressure!

You either have that rule or you don't....

But Eagles were out on their legs.... and Collingwood had to work way too hard - should stumble against Geelong next week.

I'm sorry, but he RAN out of bounds while trying to BAULK the tackling player. You don't have to prevent the ball going over the line, you just can't put it over the line as your ONLY OPTION. If you want to comment on the rules, you need to know how they are interpreted. The umpires didn't pay one against the Eagles, even though the umpire said audibly "he was under pressure". Now THAT ONE was absolutely deliberate, but he got away with it because the Collingwood players pressured him.....comment on that one.

HOT PIES!!!!!

no need to get Narky...

That was a fair comment by AJ, Buckley was under no pressure and he wasnt balking an opponent at all...

What? It could easily be interpreted that he was trying to turn the guy inside out and get around him. If the free is paid against him, then the umpire has to GUESS that he deliberately took it out of bounds. Do you want that, umpires guessing at crucial times of an important match? Pressure is irrelevant...nowhere in the rule does it say that you can go out deliberately if you are under pressure.

I'm not a Pies fan at all but that was a cracker of a game last night. Didak and Neon Leon were sensational. Thomas, Cloke and Pendlebury (I think that's his name) were great too. Even Bucks showed he's still got it. Great game plus I had the Pies to win by more than 15.5:thumbsup:

Hahaha you're DREAMING! There was 1 thing in Buckley's mind then, take it out of bounds. He wasn;t under pressure and you're telling me a Brownlow Medallist doesn;t know where the Boundary line is and happens to 'try to turn his player inside out' in 2 meters of space and whoops, I accidently stepped out of bounds... :lol::lol::lol:

Good win by the Pies. Cats by 206 next week ;)

No don't want it if you read what I said that rule either needs to be enforced all the time I got ridden of Because Hawthorn some could argue were pinged for a deliberate that was a TRUE SHank which was an absoluet deliberate guess on the part of Darren goldspink... which lead to the first of Port Adelaide's two goals in a minute to beat Hawthorn - INSTEAD of being a throw in 60 metres out from Hawthorns goal....

so forgive me if I think the umpires decision was wrong... I cannot comment on the other one - because I only avidly watched the last 20 mins (inc overtime) of the game cos I was busy playing battlefield.

The fact is it needs to be enforce more strongly or it needs to be gotten rid of because umpires give when they fel like... not when they should...

Must say can always tell a Collingwood fan - I cannot wait to see all the justifications as to why Collingwood lose to Geelong.

Also... don't assume I don't know the rules... if you read what I said I said BEING UNDER PRESSURE SHOULD NOT BE A BLOODY EXCUSE!

I don't appreciate your attitude.

I normally love watching hunter play against us (the bombers) but for the one time i was backing and desperatley wanting the eagles to win i couldnt beleive how much of a spack this guy is.. cannot kick.. well actually can't do anything.. he's the robert lewis-thompson of the eagles..

bad coaching by woosha.. poonda down in the goal square only to be outmanned by anyone collingwood pleased to put on him.. aaron henneman would of had a field day against him too.. glass is the whole backline of the eagles, and almost single handedly won them the game..

the eagles window is closing.. but wait.. all the injuries?? no excuse.. very lucky it wasn't dry..

I hate how the rules change when its wet.. if your pinged your farking pinged.. if your hitting the ball over the boundary with no one around YOUR GONE.. if you drop the ball due to being tackled YOUR GONE.. if you throw the ball YOUR GONE.. if you kick after the whistle and its the other teams free its 50 FARKING METERS.. if your nathan buckley though its ok.. though im talking about both teams doing this blatantly..

if it counts the pies will take out the cats.. 23 points.. they've just taken out the reigning back to back finalists/premiers..

LRT, Lewis Roberts-Thompson.

Yeah sucks how rules change for wet...

Don;t agree the Pies will win over Cats though. Yes they took out the Eagles, who were undermanned. They also ran their legs off on a hard ground in the wet...

All night and this morning is how i have heard the umpiring cost the Eagles the game, what a load of crap...if the Eagles fans said well we had no Judd, Cousins or Kerr i would happily concede that was a huge and irreplaceable loss to that teams midfield.

The umpiring was ordinary all night long, Rocca could have had numeorus free kicks and wasnt paid, but that is part of the game and certainly not an influence on the outcome as far as i am concerned. The umpiring was ordinary going both ways.

As for the Buckley incident, even as a Magpie fan, it was delibirate, and he got away with it, no different then the 10 or 20 other incindents like it ever week, as said earlier they either enforce it universally or dispose of the rule completely.

As for the Budgies, well they obviously ran out of legs, Cox worked hard all night with little assistance i thought, the midfield just lacked drive and we smashed them in the centre clearances, while Priddis had 30 odd touches (and i do like his game), there were numerous of them which were either backwards or sidewards and not productive.

Good call on Hunter, did a whole lot f*ck all, i am biased with a dislike for him and the fact that my wife used to go out with him at school, but yeah his contribution was minimal and not worth mentioning.

I really expected someone like Fletcher to step up and put a stamp on the game, but it wasnt forthcoming.

However i think personally Glass played extremely well and deserves all the acknowledgement that comes his way.

Go Pies and well, while i would like us to knock over the Cats next week i think that will be a huge ask and if we do it will be a small margin in a tight game.

enough with the petty umpiring stuff, that game was way too good to be sullied with arguing about minor umpiring discrepancies.

what a weird game, i was tempted to flick over to the cricket at half time, it was sloppy and boring up til halfway through the 3rd. but after that, WOW! the pies come back late in the 3rd and then the epic battle throughout the 4th!!! and then the pies just finding that extra bit of heart to run out the extra time periods. awesome stuff from both sides, i dislike both eagles and pies with a passion but you just have to applaud both teams. and i think with the big 3 the eagles would have had undoubtedly won, its a credit to them they made such a contest of it without 3 brownlow calibre players.

all i can say is im counting down the minutes til Geelong V Collingwood at the G, what a game thats going to be!

Hey I wasn't talking about umpiring changing the result... I was merely commenting on one decision lol I didn't watch enough of the game to honestly comment on the umpiring but I did note the oddity of Collignwood have a lead in the free kick count early in the fourth lol Which I thought was fitting...
