2011/12 Australian Summer Of Cricket (*SPOILERS*)

He is a ****ty opening hack for NSW is he?

Heres some evidance to support that:

Matches: 65

Hudreds: 17

Average: 48

Thats good for any player, theres no argument there, but what makes it better is he is only 23.

You can keep on regurgitating the same sh!t facts over and over mate..... But the FACT is, he has one of the WORSE techniques in WORLD CRICKET!!!! Yes he's young and he should be looked after and nurtured by CA so he can get it right and get back in the side, but HE HAS NOT, NOT ONE LITTLE BIT, earnt his spot in the last 12 months... He does NOT deserve to be there right now, there is a handful of others in Shield cricket and Australia A games that DO DESERVE to be given a go......

He HAS to be sent back to NSW for the rest of the season, he needs to be coached and given time at the crease, not constantly putting Australia in a bad position in the first 5 or so overs and demoralizing himself at the same time!!!

He is out of form in a big way, his Technique is probably not even up to Shield cricket at the MOMENT... Stop living in the past Jack, I know your only 15 and are still immature and young when it comes to certain things, but to say he deserves to be there is more delusional then saying Ponting is still the world's best batsman!!!!!

I reckon ever since Hughes Changed his Technique his been worst of, I think his old technique was better and More Aggressive.

Agreed Hughes needs to go back to shield, I think some time at the academy might do him some good too. He had potential, at the moment he is a liability. Others deserve a chance to show what they've got. If he comes back great, but test cricket has chewed up and spit out many batsman. Just ask Phil Jaques or Michael Bevan about there test careers.

Can't catch either. Then he looks around, insulted and somewhat flummoxed that the batsman had the temerity to hit a ball straight in to his hands.

No, I think we've seen the last of Phil Hughes.

Maybe Siddle and Pattinson can give him some tips. Both are lionhearts, give it their all, and funnily enough, take wickets AND score runs.

Meanwhile, Phil Hughes does sweet f*** all.

He's probably too good for shield, but he isn't good enough for test level.

Maybe he can try something novel, like the rest of us do: get a job in the real world!

In the last 18 innings he's scored something like 36+ twice. Oh yeah he's soooo good.

This is MY opinion. I really think Hughes is undropable. You can't blame this test series entirely on him, the pitch in hobart is swinging at right angles perfect for any bowler. What did Khawaja do? What did Hussey do? The way he went out at the GABBA test was rubbish I think everyone will agree LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES PHIL thats all you have to do.

I just can't forget about the 100's he has made in South Africa and all the great scores over there (Most recently the 80 against SA) . Every body has a go about him how he always goes out caught at Gully or in the slips cordon etc that's his main scoring area! The guy is still only 23 stick with him and the runs will come. Everybody has a dry patch.

Fire away :p

you are right I will fire away at you, but not about hughes but for having that ugly collingwood player as your signature hahha.

I do agree with you on the cricket side of things though. Everyone got out cheaply in the first innings for both teams. Lets see how NZ do and how the pitch goes over the next 3 days before we judge one guy. If pitch holds up looses the green and becomes a batters paradise hughes should be able to do well if he just does what he does in the domestic competition without over thinking the whole situation.

People forget that every team once they reach the top only has one direction to go in and that is down. It will take time to build a team. Swapping and changing does not help team stability.

But it's not just about this series, or the Last.... Since he came on to the scene like a bat out of hell he has done SWEET F A!!!! Like Liam said, in his last 18 innings he has scored 36+ only twice, while others around him in shield etc etc have been piling on the runs.

He needs to be dropped and coached on a lower level for his own good as much as the Test sides good...

LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES PHIL thats all you have to do.:

You would think he'd learn from his mistakes wouldn't you? But the thing is he hasn't. He's gone out behind the wicket 14 of the last 18 times!! 14/18!! That's just ridiculous, he's also gone out behind the wicket the majority of times in his career.

This series has basically just proven that he's mentally weak. There's no place for him in the national squad with his mentality. He's a bully. He beats up on SS sides, makes the majority of his runs on roads and when it comes for him to fight for his wicket he crumbles.

Actually he did make 126 against Sri Lanka......

Still, his recent games..... Not including this test....

10 and 7 vs New Zealand
88 and 11 vs Sth Africa
9 and 9 vs Sth Africa
4 and 19 vs Sth Africa A
0 and 126 vs Sri Lanka... So he also made a first innings duck....!
36 vs Sri Lanka
12 and 28 vs Sri Lanka
76 vs Sri Lanka Board XI

So considering the players that are making runs all over the country, and the way Hughes is CONSTANTLY getting out in THE SAM WAY, he needs to be dropped and nurtured by CA for his OWN good as much as AUSTRALIA'S!
If you can't see that Walshy then your not a true fan, just a one eyed supported of his that believes he can not do no wrong... he has been gifted his last few Test Caps... He doesn;t deserve to be there right now.

The selectors need to do the right thing and drop him it's as simple as that, and if it doesn't happen for the Indian series, then we are in massive trouble from the start, and his career will completely be over by the time he's 25!

Peter Siddle top scored.

But that's because he defended stoutly, chose the bad ball and had a judicious shot selection.

Sure, you can say he fell in the slips but he isn't a professional batsmen.

Hughes has one shot at the moment. Tis a pity it goes straight to the slips' hands.

NZ must be laughing.

As Don Bradman said about cricket, you can't get caught if you hit it along the ground.

very similar stats between these two (hilditch and hughes) both opening batsman, both underperformong and both unable to cut their downfall stroke out of their repertoire

i used to hate hilditch and wonder why he kept getting a go at batting, its only when i looked up these stats that i realised hilditch's father-in-law was bob simpson, go figure. i know this wasnt when simpson was coaching but he hilditch was being protected by someone

Siddle played very well, however the pitch had settled down a heck of a lot. If our top 6 take note on his strategy I see no reason why we can chase down a 275+ total (pitch permitting)

But they can't seem to leave the bad balls alone. Any of them.

Haddin is laughable.

Smash & slog. Don't take anything else in to account. Then get caught like an U8s playing his first game.

siddle's talking again, wish he'd just shut up and bowl. siddle and pattinson were woeful yesterday when they started their trash talk with the kiwis, all over the shop. concentrate boys, just concentrate
