What is a linkback and why am I getting 101 notifications about it

the subject says it all....

what is a linkback, and why do I get like 10 email notifications every time a linkback happens?? Can I turn off notifications for linkbacks (but not usual posting to a thread)?

Linkback is when someone links back to a thread that has been created. You will normally get an email notification to notify you of this. As we moderate them, when we approve them you will get a bunch of emails.

Yes this is annoying, and yes i've turned off the email notifications.
