VINTAGE question (not cards)

hey guys,
i was looking through some stuff and came accross an old book
its about 5 inches thick, and seems to be a dictionary/encyclopedia type book, it also has the first few pages written in by some old ppl (the writing is mega fancy), it seems to be passed on through the family ..

then i came accross the date and it is dated 1780something..

could this be worth anything? or should it ake it to the op-shop


EDIT: the book itself is in OK condition, the pages are all intact as well as the cover (the cover seems to be made out of some sort of leathery/cardboard) you can also read each page easily
