TORONTO –
Panini America and 25 of the top
NHL rookies and prospects, including No. 1 overall pick
Nathan MacKinnon, and former Halifax Mooseheads teammate and No. 3 overall pick
Jonathan Drouin, closed an overwhelmingly successful
2013 NHLPA Rookie Showcase on Tuesday.
Day 2 of the NHLPA Rookie Showcase was held at the
MasterCard Centre for Excellence in Mississauga, Ontario, where the players gathered and rotated through various stations, including on- and off-ice photography, a marketing station which included a takeover of the
@PaniniAmerica Twitter account, and an acquisitions station that allowed players to finish up autographs and unlock their creative side with the ever-popular
Panini America sketch cards.
All told, the
Panini Double Rookie Class helped capture thousands of images for future trading cards, event-worn memorabilia (including towels and jerseys), more than 60 sketch cards, seemingly countless autographs for future programs, player interviews, an infinite number of
2013-14Score Hockey Jumbo Pack wrappers and memories that will last a lifetime.
This year’s
NHLPA Rookie Showcase was especially important as a high-profile crop of players like
MacKinnon, Drouin, Mathew Dumba, Brendan Gallagher and
Malcolm Subban became part of the
Panini America Double Rookie Class. For some rookies in attendance, like the
Washington Capitals’ Tom Wilson and
Los Angeles Kings’ Tanner Pearson, it was their first true opportunity to reflect on making their NHL debuts and to see their first Panini Double Rookie Class trading cards in
2013-14 Score Hockey.
