Tracking costs from AU to international

Hey all, encountered a big problem today with Aus Post which could mean I can no longer send cards international unless anyone knows of another cheaper method.
A US bloke won an ebay auction from me and has requested tracking. I enquired at Aus Post and they said the minimum for tracking inclusion is $23.50 and you can't use the small padded bag either, it has to go in a 500gr satchel, does this sound right? I swear I used to send cards overseas a couple of years back with tracking for like $4-5 extra.

Yeah $23.50 with tracking is correct, but you can use he small bubble mailer I use it every week.

Id be very wary of someone who asks for tracking numbers too. In my experience if you say you dont have tracking, theyre often the buyers who say they never recieved the item.

I have not provided tracking to the buyer lately, stating that I dont have that info. Youd be surprised how often a buyer lodges a ‘didnt recieve my item’ within days of the tracking updating as ‘delivered’

It’s auite fun watching the backtracking and excuses after I provide the tracking info as dlvd. Lol

Yeah I know, but with these possible upcoming GST changes, it’s becoming less attractive anyway.
