For the better part of its proud, almost-two-decade existence, Panini America’s venerable Elite Football franchise has thrived with a largely unchanged blueprint, relying heavily on popular brand tenets such as foilboard card stock, Aspirations and Status parallels, key inserts such as Passing the Torch autographs and Throwback Threads, and strong rookie content.
But Panini America’s NFL Product Development team gave Elite Football a well-deserved year off in 2015, using the time to revamp the brand from top to bottom. The result, as collectors will see firsthand when 2016 Elite Football hits hobby shops across North America on Wednesday, marks an exciting new chapter in Elite history.
Out is the base foilboard stock and the old logo. In? A dramatically different Elite Football experience in both look and feel. Bold, new designs. Vibrant parallel colors. The first Rookie Cards featuring players in their NFL uniforms. A bevy of on-card autographs in the freshly inked Pen Pals insert that was completed late last month during the 2016 NFLPA Rookie Premiere Presented By Panini.
On average, each hobby box (five cards per pack, 20 packs per box, 12 boxes per case) will deliver two autographs — including at least one hard-signed Pen Pals auto — and one memorabilia card. Every pack will deliver one insert, Rookie Card or parallel.
