The debut edition of Panini America’s Revolution Basketball was something of a sleeper hit last season. With no history to call upon and no road map to follow, the product had to carve out its own following — which it did with a unique blend of dazzling parallels, designs that took full advantage of those parallels and rare-but-hard-signed autographs. It took some time, but that different-by-design recipe ultimately resonated with basketball collectors.

Fast forward 11 months or so and we find the highly anticipated follow-up, 2016-17 Revolution Basketball, preparing for its release next Wednesday. The franchise is one year older . . . and one year wiser, too. The parallels are back. The rare, on-card autographs are back. But this year, company officials have made the various parallels in the set much easier to identify by including descriptions on the back.

Each master case of 2016-17 Revolution Basketball delivers two eight-box inner cases. Each box (five cards per pack, eight packs per box) will yield four Rookie Cards, four inserts and eight parallels (with at least one numbered to 100 or less). In addition, each inner case should deliver two on-card autographs. The chase-worthy Showstopper insert falls roughly once per inner case.

When asked what he thought of 2016-17 Revolution Basketball, Panini America Brand Manager Brett Whiteley responded with a gif.

To find out what you think about it, you must first peruse the fruits of this Quality Control Gallery. Enjoy the imagery and stay tuned for continued coverage.
