One week from today, some of the greatest soccer players on the planet will get the Aficionado treatment as Panini America unveils the debut edition of Aficionado Soccer, a new release that borrows the best attributes from the Aficionado Baseball release that introduced the brand way back in 1996 and the Aficionado Basketball release that reintroduced it just last month.

2016-17 Aficionado Soccer boasts the horizontally oriented, two-image fronts (including the intricately etched foil closeups) that have come to define the Aficionado aesthetic. The product’s 200-card base set is bolstered by the 50-card Global Reach subset. On average, each hobby box will deliver one autograph, one memorabilia card and 10 Artist’s Proof parallels.

Among 2016-17 Aficionado Soccer’s most compelling chases are the blue-foiled First Kick parallel and the Forza! insert, both of which fall roughly once per case. In the extensive Quality Control Gallery that follows, we offer a revealing overview of the product that should satiate anxious soccer fans and collectors until next Wednesday’s release date.

Enjoy . . .
