Faried PC Battle Champion
So I worked out that I've posted one mailday in here in the last 5 and half months... so I thought I'd catch everyone up with what I've been doing.
Long story short: Panini quality down + not many Faried I need = needed a new focus. I'm still picking up Faried as I go but they aren't nearly as frequent as they used to be.
I decided to go back and focus on my Andrew Bynum mini collection. I absolutely loved this guy as a Laker, he had so much talent and I loved seeing him develop over the years from draft until he was traded to the sixers after winning two rings. By the time he was traded, even Kobe had acknowledged that Bynum had made himself good enough to "eat first" when the ball comes into the post and poor Pau got bumped to third. He then went on to make his first all star game, the Lakers sold high - he was the piece the Sixers would rebuild around (which didn't pan out due to his knees) and forced them to #trusttheprocess
I'll show off some of my key Bynum pickups that I have in hand, got some beauties incoming to add to it too. If you've seen my Faried PC grow over the years, you'll understand the effort into making this PC as nice as it can be also
1. Scripts for Success Rookie Auto #/25 (BGS 9.5)
I also have the matching Lamar Odom in the same grade, nice team mate pairing
2. Ultimate Collection Rookie (set redemption) Auto #/5
Getting hold of this one was tough, as this was a full set redemption - rather than just one card. And with only 5 sets released it was never going to be easy, but one of my favorites to date.
3. Second year SP game used logoman #1/1
Don't think I really need to say anything more about this one.
4. Exquisite Noble Nameplates
Always a winner
5. Spx Winning Materials #/10
The scan doesn't do this one justice
6. 2008-09 Exquisite Flawless
The original flawless. Killer card, shame my scanner doesn't like the gold foil.
7. Exquisite Base Gold #/50
8. 2008-09 SP Authentic Varsity Letters Team Nickname (all are #1/1)
A big shout out to @Delly for his help getting these into my PC, along with a few others. With these I'm half way home to being able to spell LAKERS and I think I've been able to locate the E - just waiting on the (possible) owner to get back to me.
9. 2008-09 UD Black Quad Jersey Auto #/10
I agree that Shaq or Pau would have made more sense here but hey, what can you do. I won't complain to add this stunner.
10. 2008-09 Radiance Dual Marks #/10
I love everything about this product, including the base which I'll show another time.
11. 2008-09 Emulation Dual Patches
It's the NBA finals themed. We went on to get them the second time!
12. 2009-10 Certified Mirror Black #1/1
Unfortunately flushing out the 1/1's is pretty tough and those that do have them usually want prices from 8-10 years ago rather than what the market currently reflects. That said, I'll take this one for $18 any day. I also only need the green #/5 to finish this rainbow if anyone comes across it.
13. 2010-11 Gold Standard Gold Team Logos
I miss what Gold Standard used to be.
14. 2011-12 Limited Glass Cleaners Prime #/25
'Drew's final year as a Laker. Even tho its a sticker auto its still a really nice patch auto with some killer photography.
15. 2011-12 Hoops Artist Proofs Black 1/1
Picked up from another ozcard member when they were leaving the hobby. Got it for an excellent price.
16. 2012-13 National Treasures Champions Dual Autographs #/25
Championship team mates (Ron Artest / Metta World Peace) - was high on the priority list and very glad I snagged it.
17. 2012-13 National Treasures Colossal Logoman #/2
Laker patch, Sixers photo. My second logoman.
18. 2013-14 Court Kings Royal Performances
I remember watching this game (vs the Spurs) and how impressive Drew was. He joined Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, George Mikan and Elgin Baylor as the only Lakers to ever have 30 rebounds in a game. The Spurs as a team only pulled down 32 in total. I should also add that it was a game that Kobe sat ouot due to a shin injury. Elite company indeed!
19. 2013-14 Titanium Titanic Threads Prime #/5
I don't know what it is about this set but all the patches tend to look amazing in hand. The foil board around the patch window is something they haven't done a million times to it keeps its uniqueness.
20. 2008-09 Exquisite Prime Patches #/50
I have 9 of these in hand. My 10th is currently on it's way.
I've also established a really nice haul of jersey numbered cards, which I'll show off in my next Bynum related thread.
