But Marshall was not effective at halfback, he would only be in the reckoning for five-eighth of the year.

Kimmorley may not have the stats in the try assists or line break assists that the other contenders do, but the settling influence he has on that side, and his ability to guide them around the park, means I think he is the best halfback in the competition this year.

Stats don't show everything.

Thurston did play well just after the test, but are the awards given for a good month of form in the middle of the season?

Hmmm thats a real tough one. Kimmorley- Led last years Wooden Spooners to what shouldve been a Minor Premiership. On the otherhand Thurston and Marshall cant even guide good rosters to the finals. Marshalls move to half back was a complete flop and Soward was undisputed five eighth of the year.
Crowd Favourites do not necessarily equal class. Kimmorley was by far the stand out half back this year and without him the Dogs wouldve struggled to make the 8.
No frills half backs win premierships, razzle dazzle halves gives your team a longer off-season.

Okay mate.

For one, Cowboys side isnt that strong. We have only 4 representative players (JT, Bowen, O'Donnell and Tonga). Even I can admit we dont have a strong backline, a pretty weak forward pack and cant find a good five-eighth.
Cowboys went downhill when we got injuries to key players, such as Bowen, Payne, O'Donnell and Johnny Williams

Marshall as well doesnt have a real good side. He only pretty much has Farah and Tuiaki.

While, Kimmorley has one of the best sides around. It wasnt just him who steered the Doggies from the bottom to the top. Look at all 6 other new players this year. All were pretty much in career-best form. Also, layers at the club stood up as well, such as Patten, El Masri, Roberts, Ryan and Warburton. More were in great form and also had Idrid playing VERY good in his first season. I mean, Bulldogs won a total of 7 Dally M Medal. It shows the whole team is steering them around.

As Im saying here, Kimmorley wasnt the only players leading the Doggies! The whole team were.

Thurston on the other hand was trying to do everything and, 90% of the time, worked

Try Assists 25

Kimmorley

Try Assists 11

These are the main stats for halfbacks. Thurstons tally is much higher in both areas. It was more Roberts creating all the tries and Kimmorley just getting in the headlines for all the good work he never even did!
