Surprised to see there are no hobby stores from states outside VIC/SA.

Would have thought @Diggaz TC in NSW and Blunt from QLD would be wise to service other states. I can't recall the name of the WA hobby stores also.

Wonder how long JHL/Wang will last with this new arrangement.

Based on what I heard this morning for Wang, not long.

Anything else you can disclose @Matt26

Not really just that with Wang closing his store (moving elsewhere I believe) its likely that Select were setting up other distribution channels (Direct/Preferred Resellers) and he would get what's left over (if any)..... the announcement above sort of confirms that.

Select would give the now main resellers the bulk of the product and Wang distributes the scraps to the smaller sellers with what's left over.

Must be a bitter pill for him to take given the support he had shown Select over the years.

Fun times ahead!

hasnt wang been looking to downsize for a couple of years now, so it probably makes a lot of sense for select to reduce their reliance on 1 distributor

Pretty disappointing as a number of those outlets are not actually retailers and specialise in breaks! Whatever sealed product sold will be very minimal.

Yes unfair on Wang who has been by the side of Select for over a decade and now things are looking rosey, he's getting burnt.

They should just go online-only direct if going down that path.

This will reinforce, presale stock sold tomorrow, will very reduced in quantity and sell out quickly.

How do you become an authorised retailer? Do you have to pay a membership fee or licence fee for this privilege ?

interesting to see Cherry there.
got into the afl buzz when supremacy dropped, bought 10 cases for pot luck, and now the top reseller.
slap in the face to the loyal folk around.
fun times ahead indeed

Thought the same thing. Cherry do heaps of NBA and other overseas sports but I don’t see them promoting AFL much at all.

Yeah they rarely did much AFL. But they must have had a bit of a chat with Select or something and have started pushing out a lot more AFL breaks and products.
Dale does all the AFL stuff on the Cherry AFL YouTube channel. Some good stuff in the last month. I think it would have something to do with the partnering.

The thing that annoys me is there is a 4 box limit and in selects own words it’s because we want product in the hands of collectors, yet half of your authorised retailers are breakers who will be lucky to sell a case worth of boxes to the general public, way more profit breaking, as a reseller myself my allocation has dropped every release for the last year to the point now I would say I won’t get anything after this year, I have supported select for 10 years now and I know other guys like myself who have been doing it since the 90s yet we are the ones getting cut back for the New kids on the block. Feel sorry for Wang as he is doing the best he can with what he is given. If nothing changes will be the end of my business
Disgraceful by select

shame to hear festa (I enjoy reading your views and thoughts concerning the hobby for years now) 10 years of support and now being ushed along for others!!
hoping things work out for you and your business mate

Have Select came out and confirmed what the criteria was for being a part of the authorised retailer family?

A number of key players that have serviced the hobby for many years have been missed, Dads and Dave's at Dandenong Market, Gimko just to name a few.

Way of the future, sadly. Once Wangy loses his distribution, expect these "retailers" to secure more stock with whatever is leftover trickled to the online sales.

Thanks mate it is what it is, I’m only an online business so I get that storefronts should absolutely get 1st crack at stock as they have more overheads, but the way some sellers that have been supporting select since the 90s when no one wanted it are getting pushed out doesn’t sit right with me, I guess more of my money will now go to teamcoach and TLA

The current rise in card popularity brings me back to the early 90's but this one is different in the fact its online sales which have increased dramatically. The virus just fast tracked how things are now done. There is a few card shops but to survive will need a mixture of online and store sales . I would say though most sales would be online at the moment, its just easier for clients imo.

I will also add the market is there now for more product especially higher end.I think some forget how passionate many of us are about the hobby and how we will gobble up all the new products put out in front of us.
