Panini America’s iconic NBA Hoops Basketball brand is getting bigger. Much, much bigger. Taking a page from similar successful transformations in both football (2013 Score) and hockey (2013-14 Score), the company’s traditional NBA season-starter is going the jumbo route for its 2013-14 hobby version.

And like a player who dedicates himself to a rigorous off-season weightlifting program, the bulky benefits for 2013-14 NBA Hoops Basketball will be instantly recognizable when the product releases in late October: 10-pack boxes that yield 500 total cards, including two autographs, one memorabilia card, 50 parallels, one Artist’s Proof parallel, 30 Red-Back variations, 20 Action Shots, 20 Dreams, 20 Board Members, 20 Class Action, 20 Courtside and 20 Spark Plugs.

The other attributes that have made NBA Hoops a perennial season-opening blockbuster return in force, including spectacular photography, the first licensed NBA Rookie Cards of the new draft class and a few extremely scarce chase cards.

Here are just some of the highlights of the history-making first jumbo edition of NBA Hoops:

  • The return of Kobe’s All-Rookie Team, one of the most valuable short-printed inserts in Hoops.
  • Brand new, ultra-rare Highlights, featuring the greatest stories from the 2012-13 season, including Kobe Bryant reaching 30,000 points, Steve Nash eclipsing 10,000 assists and the Miami Heat’s 27-game winning streak
  • The return of Artist’s Proof Black 1/1s
  • Photo-driven inserts such as the breathtaking Courtside and Above The Rim that give collectors the best seat in the house

We’ll have plenty more on 2013-14 NBA Hoops Hobby Jumbo in the coming weeks right here on The Knight’s Lance. But for now, sit back and enjoy this extended first look:
