Ever since collectors first caught wind of Panini America’s upcoming 2017 XR Football product, one of the most-asked questions surrounding the new release has had nothing to do with product composition, checklists, autograph and memorabilia rosters or design principles. Instead, most folks have wanted to know just one thing: What does “XR” stand for? That’s a good question — and probably one best answered at another time. Certainly, there’s something to be said for a buzz-generating name. But beyond those two letters, XR Football would likely stand out by any name.
As you’ll see, matte-finish rainbow foils and vibrant colors work wonders for a set’s aesthetics; and 2017 XR Football’s Luminous Endorsements, Maximal Materials and Rookie Jumbo Materials represent some of the most attractive designs of the young 2017 NFL product season. On average, each hobby box (seven cards per pack, two packs per box) will deliver two autographs (including one Rookie Autograph Jersey) and one memorabilia card.
