Official Olympic Basketball Thread -- Spoilers

yeah defensive rebounding was terrible.

Observations from the Boomers game: (Keep in perspective, this was realistically a Greece B team)
  • We cannot rely on Mills scoring alone. Teams are going to shut him down.
  • Mills shooting is insane, he has worked so much on this.
  • We got a lot of open looks from 3, this will not happen.
  • Brad Newley cannot shoot (or had a bad night)
  • We cannot expect to get 30+pts and 15+ rebounds from our centres. We threw the ball inside a lot last night simply because Greece had no one to match up inside.
  • Dellavedova, looked good. A really good combo with him at 1 and Mills at 2
  • Brett Brown messed around with lineups a lot last night, I liked him running Ingles at 1 as well.
  • Peter Crawford should not be in the team. He didn't get a minute last night. He's 33 years old. We should have included someone like Ryan Broekhoff to sit on the end of the bench and get some experience, ready for the next olympics, rather than a 33 year old who want be around at the next olympics (or probably even the next commonwealth games)
  • Nielsen had an off night, but was very good. Very very vocal and showing excellent leadership
  • Barlow is completely over rated. Beautiful wide open layup blwon in one of the first plays of the game.

Newley must have been off, I've seen him absolutely burn the nets off in most games, love his game/style.

Not televised tonight hence also not iinet stream :(

Tony Parker could miss the Olympics because he has not fully recovered from an injury to his left eye.
"As required by the Spurs, I will go back to the U.S. on July 5... I will visit a specialist in New York, hoping he will give the green light to compete at the Games," Parker said.
Parker will defer the decision to the Spurs.
"The Spurs are very worried,” he said. “Depending on the (examination) results, a withdrawal is possible. The decision is not mine anymore, it is up to the doctor and the Spurs."
