Top Gun director Tony Scott has died after jumping to his death from a bridge in Los Angeles County, according to reports.
Scott climbed a fence before jumping "without hesitation" from the Vincent Thomas Bridge, theContra Costa Times reports.
A suicide note was found in the 68-year-old filmmaker's car, which was parked beside the bridge.
The British-born director made such blockbusters asUnstoppable, Spy Game, Enemy of the State andBeverly Hills Cop II.
Scott's body was recovered from the water and turned over to coroners.
He is the younger brother of Gladiator director Ridley Scott.
