Well, I didnt expect a win today, after the Mavs took the Hornets D apart in Dallas just a few days ago in the season finale matchup.

The Hornets must be hungry after that loss, their D is really tight at the moment.

First, CP3 blocks Dampier, then West blocks Dirk, then a triple from Peja...

Can't spark a home croud much better than that!!!

Down 13 with less than 3:00 to go, looks set to be a 1-0 lead for the Hornets.

Game Notes:
The Mavs drastically need some more scorers out there, with only Dirk & J-Ho hitting double digits at the moment...

Avery needs to rely on Bass a bit more, only played 13 minutes, with Dampier on 5 fouls (and sitting) they need Bass out there to help with Chandler & West down low.

Geez! That was a quick turnaround by the hornets. They were trailing by a dozen at half time... Now winning!!! Chris Paul for MVP!!!

yeah, huge game by CP3 today, he took over in that 3rd quarter and almost singlehandedly pulled back the deficit, west started to fire up as well in the 2nd half. i think the mavs shot something like 25% in the 2nd half...ouch.

based on seeing the matchup today, i think the mavs may steal one back at home, but nothing more.

after seeing paul rip it up today and pretty much win it off his back, i cannot pick an MVP, both Kobe and Paul are soooo deserving of it, and equally so.

Im tipping co-MVPs for both guys!!! you heard it here...;)

Did anyone see how Dirk was hit with a meaningless technical when West clearly was touching the big man's face. That was so stupid!!!

We saw it happened twice with the ROY award so why not!

Considering Terry came on and couldn't score and Stackhouse not a viable option. Dirk and J-Ho need to score at least better than the 1st half(30pts) combined to stop the hornets.

They were a measly 20% in the 2nd half.

Lost by 12 in the end.

Simple, slow Paul, slow the Hornets. (although it's not THAT simple).

I think the Mavs can take the 2nd game in New Orleans on Wednesday, they just need to shoot better, and play better D.

If they repeat what the did in Dallas last Thursady, they can do this.

Paul was absoloutely awesome! The kid surely deserves MVP. On the other hand, if the Mavs want to make it past the first round, like you said scotty, they really need some more scoring options. Maybe play big Bassy a bit more. He can crash the boards and provide a much needed spark.

Winning in Dallas is very different to winning in New Orleans against this Hornets team. If you look at the Hornets record in Dallas it isn't great. Dallas HAVE to win this next game because if the Hornets win one in Dallas, I think they might run away with the series. The only reason Dallas was in this game was very poor Hornets shooting! I tipped Dallas to win the series 4-3 based on experience but I think if the Hornets hold home court and steal one in Dallas it could be over much quicker. Dallas should have taken advantage of the poor first half shooting and didn't. Chris Paul is emerging as the true superstar PG of the future. What a debut playoff performance!:worthy:

PHEEEEEEEEW.....

Didnt get to see any live stats, or anything, until now. I went out, the Mavs were up by 2 with about 2 mins left in the first half.

Come back, they win by 10.

Nice!

Dirk was a monster aye, 32 points, 19 boards, 6 dimes and 2 blocks!

Apart from Damps, the other 4 starters each played 40+ minutes. Not sure if this is good or bad. Probably not SOOOO good, since they're lacking depth if their reserves can't provide solid performances, but if they're gonna have to run 40+ mins a game, then that's what they've gotta do to get those wins up.

Game notes:

CP3 - 4/18FGs still managed 16 & 10 tho.

Howard - 5/16FGs still managed 18 points.

Jannero Pargo - 30 points off bench 4/7 triples. Gotta watch those outside shots.

Foul count - 27-16 in favour of the Mavs. Maybe it's home court, maybe it's sloppy play, but whatever it was, it worked. Paul (5), Chandler (5) & West (4) in foul trouble.

Like what the fffff......

Fair dinkum, what the heck happened??

Had to go out and they were neck and neck, then from the 2nd quater onwards, they just had no hope...

They should have won this, it's at home... now they have zip chance of recovering...

Unless they can pull off the (probably) impossible... they're gone!!!

CP3 didnt have a great game, but neither did any of the Mavs.

The Hornets finally break their drought in Dallas by winning for the first time since 1998!!!!!

What a way to break the drought too, during the playoffs to go up 3-1. It will be very tough for the Mavs to come back from here, especially the way Josh Howard has played, Kidd almost shutdown and Stackhouse barely contributing.

I see some big moves being made this offseason in Dallas!

Kidd blowing a fuse was not so good but the Hornets are awesome. Dallas just can't avoid having meltdowns at the worst times.

I've often wondered if J-Ho would ever be traded, but I dunno...

There's talk that Avery might be going to Chicago, but I'm sure all that's just whisper int he wind.

It's disappointing to see how they've fared, especially when they've played well against the Hornets all year, I mean, it's not like when they faced the Warriors, a team they'd sucked against all season, but this is just as bad.

It wouldnt suprise me if the Mavs could pull off a win next game, but I think the Hornets and their home crowd will be too IN to the game, to let the Mavs score anything easily.

Speaking of which, anyone see game 2? The Mavs were booed near most of the game... Was there something from Game 1 that happened?

Ah well, looking forward to next season.....

Damn, they were pretty much neck and neck in the 2nd quater after the Mavs came back from a quick lead.

Now the Hornets are up 54-39 at the main break.

West & Chandler look like they're killing us....

Not 1 Mav has double figure points yet... OUCH...

Damn dude!!! Chris Paul has 14 assists at the end of the 3rd!!!

he's a straight killer!

and Chandler with 13 boards!!!

Come on Dallas! U gotsta show up to still be in it!!!
