For a time there i didnt follow nba

I just realised that kobe is 24 and not 8 does any1 know why did the change happen?

He realised that without Shaq he wanted a change and a fresh start so he changed his number. Also it had something with it being his high school jersey number.

I heard a similar thing but that it was 1 number better than Lebron because he was fed up with all the attention Lebron was getting.
