Are you refering to something similar to the facebook chat just 1 to 1
Or a group chat box where everyone is on at the same time?
I think that yes a 121 chat box would be good for working out deals and simlify things, however, the way it is done now seems to wor fine and at the least it leaves a paper trail if anything went wrong in a deal.
But i do like the idea of having a group chat box to talk to whoever is online, there are many great examples of them that work well on many other forums, as long as they not abused by immature people spamming.

i guess graham is the one that would know if the site is capable of this, and yes definately several mods would be needed to monitor it all the time.
I would be happy to put my hand up for that since i am home and online almost all the time
I like the idea of being able to chat to anyone who is online at the time as well as the ability to chat 1 on 1. I don't think it would cause trade issues though because every trade still needs a trade thread, nothing really changes there.
It would just be nice to have a more social convo with who ever happens to be online.

I agree, a social chatbox for random stuff would be great. and may even clear the forums a little too,
As well as increase the sites traffic and hopefuly get more attention and attract new members.

I have already been searching for what is available atm,
there are heaps of free versions and some that are better that are either once off fees or subscription.
They are easy for the site admins to set up and as simple as choosing the one they want, putting it where they want and let it do its thing.
Th hardest part would be selecting the best one to use.
It would need a few key features like the ability for mods to block people if they abuse it for a start.
that i guess would be the biggest issue for OCT, keeping it clean and user freindly,
and with a few good reliable mods i think that is very possible.

Does one of the Chat Software products you looked at have Auto-A_shole-Block feature that would be terrific, lol.

they should all have profanity filters built in, so they can be set by mods. but that would have to be part of the selection process when choosing the right program to use.
How they work is it is a totally seperate program that is integrated and displayed on the existing site, so no major changes needed,
but as mentioned before the allowed bandwith for the site may be affected and be an issue and would need to be considered.

not at all. just spend too much time on the comp.........
having my own website now and also had many over the years, and have been mod on several other forums over the years too, so picked enough up over time to half keep myself out of trouble.
