Having limited knowledge of Basketball can you guys list say (your opinion) as to who are the best say 10 past players obviously not playing anymore and the current top 10 players, also give me your opinion as to who you think will be the best 2 or 3 up and coming players, this is YOUR opinion.

Oh this could be controversial lol When ever you get people discussing the best players... lol

A few great players from the past... in no particular order and I don't have an opinion really just trying to help ya out with some names.

Bill Russell
Michael Jordan
Kareem Abdul Jabbar
Wilt Chamberlain
Magic Johnson
Larry Bird
Oscar Robertson

Current Really good to great players

Kobe Bryant
Kevin Durant
Lebron James
Dwyane Wade
Steve Nash
Rajon Rondo (although I'd like to see him continue to perform well after the big three retire).

Those still playing but clearly passed their prime, but still Great players in the grand scheme of things

Shaquille O'Neal
Kevin Garnett
Tim Duncan

Up and coming? Hmmm

Russell Westbrook is looking good, but is that because he is playing with Durant?
Michael Beasley is blossoming as a star (who is slowly learning defence and has learned to pass more), but can he be consistent years to come?
Kevin love is doing a lot (rebounds, 20ppg average, shooting deep ball well, gets to the ft line but could improve on defence), but would he do it all on a team Not the T Wolves?
Blake Griffin is the one guy to watch, barring injuries he'll be the next dominant bigman.

Well that's some opinions for you. Hope they help.

Also Drazen Petrovic can be put in the category of players that looked like being champions before being cut down in their prime. RIP Drazen.

Past:

Michael Jordan
Scottie Pippen
John Paxson
Dennis Rodman
Larry Bird
Clyde Drexler
Wilt Chamberlain
Kareem Abdul Jabbar
Magic Johnson
Shaquille O'Neal (the shaq currently playing must be a android. Anyway his greatest moments were in a past era so I put him here)

Present/Future:
D Rose
K Bryant
D Wade
D Nowitzki
D Howard
T Duncan
K Garnett
B Griffin
T Gibson (has potential hopefully he won't die off, shown great rebounding on offensive end to pick up baskets)
B Jennings

You don't rate Lebron James ?

nope because he is a coward who took the easy way out and he cost mike beasley his job because he looks similar to the guy who ****ed his mother.

I don't like Lebron James and I think the only cowardly thing he did was drag the whole thing out instead of going to the Cavs and letting them know he wanted to leave like any normal person would... only thing he is guilty of is having Michael jordan's ego and I LOATHE MJ even more, because MJ is a flat out jerk (anyone see his hall of fame acceptance speech?). Back to Lebron... aside from the fact he travels all the time and gets away with it, he is still an amazing performer. I doubt he cost Michael Beasley his job for looking like Delonte... They needed cap space, plus with Lebron James and Chris Bosh there as if there would be that many minutes for Beasley anyway... best thing that happened to Beasley was getting away from the Heat... so by your logic, Lebron actually did him a favour if any of what ya said there was true.

Oh and Yiorgos you should know that the majority of MJ fans don't rate Lebron, because Lebron is a great player and they are jealous of all the comparisons. A lot of LBJ fans don't like MJ much either... I just dislike both... but can acknowledge talent. ;)

PRESENT
C. Dwight Howard/Shaq O'Neal (early 00's)

Im sure there are some awesome players I missed. Pretty hard thing to do when you start thinking about it.

Reggie and Barkley would be in my list as well.... Found it interesting how no one rates Sir Charles! Shaq is a definate no matter what you think of him! You dont have the career he's had, points, rebounds, mvps, rings etc etc if your not one of the greats!

I was just thinking that Sir Charles was missing!!

Past:
Charles Barkley
Michael Jordan
Julius Erving
Wilt Chamberlain
Larry Bird
Magic Johnson
Bill Russell
Dominique Wilkins
Kareem Abdul-Jabber
Hakeem Olajuwon

Current:
Lebron James
Kevin Garnett
Kobe Bryant (hate to admit it!!)
Dwayne Wade
Amare Stoudamire
Shaquille Oneal
Tim Duncan
Kevin Durant
Dirk Nowitzski
Derrick Rose

No particular order on these and sure there are plenty more. Gotta mention 2 of the most pure shooter as well - Reggie and Ray Ray!!

PAST:
Michael Jordan
Wilt Chamberlain
Bill Russell
Bob Cousey
John Stockton
Patrick Ewing
Oscar Robertson
Magic Johnson
Charles Barkley
Larry Bird

Present:
Amare Stoudamire
Rajon Rondo
Derrick Rose
Stephen Curry
Russell Westbrook
Kevin Durant
Ray Allen
Dwyane Wade
Dwight Howard
Kobe Bryant

Future: I believe one of these will come true
Rajon Rondo (Will be best PG in history)
Nolan Smith (Plays for Duke and will get number 1 draft pick)
Blake Griffin (Soon to be best PF in history)
John Wall (Gonna average 10 triple doubles a season)
Kevin Love (Gonna average 15 + Rebounds a game)
Derrick Rose (Will win 3 MVPs in his career at least)
Stephen Curry (Will overcome Reggie Miller and Ray Allen and become the best 3 point shooter of all time)
Russell Westbrook (Will be an All-Star all the way to the end)
Mike Conley (Don't really know what to expect from this kid)
Rodriguez Beubois (Has so much potential and will soon be an All-Star)

Cheers,

Jimmy.

PAST:

Future: I believe one of these will come true
Rajon Rondo (Will be best PG in history) - maybe if you dont count Magic, Stockton, Payton, Rose etc etc
Nolan Smith (Plays for Duke and will get number 1 draft pick)
Blake Griffin (Soon to be best PF in history) - he's great... but not THAT good
John Wall (Gonna average 10 triple doubles a season) - plausible
Kevin Love (Gonna average 15 + Rebounds a game) - could do it.... so could Noah
Derrick Rose (Will win 3 MVPs in his career at least) - I dont think so... although I hope he does
Stephen Curry (Will overcome Reggie Miller and Ray Allen and become the best 3 point shooter of all time) - no he wont
Russell Westbrook (Will be an All-Star all the way to the end) - if he actually makes it this year
Mike Conley (Don't really know what to expect from this kid) - dont expect massive things
Rodriguez Beubois (Has so much potential and will soon be an All-Star) - doubtful

Cheers,

Jimmy.
