my 10 yr old nephew is a big skate freak so I got him this Santa Cruz skateboard deck for Xmas which was on special for thanksgiving for $34 down from $84 I know Santa Cruz was huge in my youth just seeing if it is still a decent brand of board?
I think he will be stoked any thoughts?

Still a decent enough brand though cheaper than most of the major brands nowadays. Your nephew should be stoked on it unless he is only keen on riding double kick boards.

I only Know i nearly killed myself on a downhill ride when i was about 13,lol I didnt think about how i was going to stop at the bottom,:ermm: lol again

Id be stoked with it but all i heard lately is penny skateboards u now the little ones that are just under $200 there pretty sick but if he's after normal sized that'll be good

Thanks for you help guys this is why this forums is so awesome you can come on with random questions and nice people will give advice

Its a called cruiser board which I think is the same or similar to a penny
its the same type all my friends kids have at the moment who are a year or two older than him

I really hate those tiny ones kids are riding these days that you could barely fit your feet on...i guess it is more about transport than tricks for the type of people who want them but i reckon a larger board is much more fun for cruising around. The one that you posted above looks like a good size though and that it would be fun for cruising.

Its all about whats ''in'' rather then if its comfortable to ride on i have abig one and a penny big is for tricks n the penny is just riding on dont wanna wreck it with tricks lol

Pretty cool cruiser there Jacob but if your kid wants to start learning tricks your gonna need a new board.

Good starter though and even better price. They are a good quality board.

Thanks for everyones help on this topic

On another note...

I always wanted a Skateboard as a kid but my mum wouldnt let me she thought I would break my neck.
After getting one for my nephew last night I was thinking all day I would love to learn so I purchased a cheap $50 posted Skatebord off ebay to learn on at 31years old and if I enjoy the hobby will invest in a nice deck and build one up with good wheels etc..
Plus I live right behind a school with a huge flat courtyard which good to practice on every afternoon without people laughing at you at the local skate park.
I even phoned my mother and said do you think I am too old to learn to skate she said yes so I will feel passion in proving her wrong

I ended up cancelling that ebay purchase and going all out with a awesome thanksgiving deal from skate warehouse got a Santa Cruz vintage cop beater deck and everything installed for just under $160US posted via fedex (fedex was $70 alone) considering this deck goes for $130 in australia i'm a cheering about the deal heres the deck and the wheels I got includes bearings, grip and tracks also everything preinstalled

Mate the first one posted for your nephew is cool, design by ROB ROSKOPP, going on good advice from my mates 20 yr old skater son its a pretty cool board by a top designer.

Rob

P.S will be putting him onto the link you put up there

The homer simpson deck I got from a clothes shop called Karmaloop the other that I brought for myself is listed above from Skate Warehouse they are doing 15% off all week for thanksgiving

Yeah. The second choice is much better.

Much "cooler" as coming from an older skater myself i'd easily roll around on the second one than put Homer Simpson under my feet.

Santa Cruz is a sick brand still, but those novelty boards don't really cut it.

If your nephew is into bombing hills as i am then he will dig that board. I'd be stoked to get it.

You sound like a "Cool" uncle haha
