Mighty Mouse.....................is in the house!

Throwing this one all the way back to the early 90s and the expansion Toronto Raptors team featuring a certain 5'10' PG playing in what was perhaps the coolest basketball jersey ever designed.

Damon 'Mighty Mouse' Stoudamire

1996 Score Board Basketball Rookies - Die Cuts - Sample - nice use of the die cut withe gold foil.

D Stoudamire.jpg

1996-97 Fleer Ultra Gold Medallion Edition - There it is in all it;s glory - THE jersey!

D Stoudamire (2).jpg

1995-96 Fleer Metal RC - Great looking cards, Fleer Metal among my all time faves....

D Stoudamire (3).jpg

1998-99 Upper Deck UD Choice - Starquest Green - Love the green foil, need to pick up the rest for the mini "poor man's rainbow". lol

D Stoudamire (4).jpg

1996-97 Topps Chrome - Youthquake For those newer to the hobby the original Topps Chrome was the real deal... Iconic Youthquake!

D Stoudamire (5).jpg

1996-97 Skybox Premium - Net Set An under-rated insert from a great product. Somehow winded up with three of these....

D Stoudamire (6).jpg

1997-98 Skybox Z-Force - Boss - The Boss of embossing, player popping out of the card is a great look. This woudl have been awesome if the background hardwood was die-cut.

D Stoudamire (7).jpg

1997-98 Skybox Z-Force - Super Boss - As above, but withthe chrome-ish finish - noice looking bit of kit!
D Stoudamire (8).jpg

1998-99 Upper Deck Ionix - Skyonix - Really hard to capture the effects of this card well, even in hand, But when the light hits it at just the right angle it's among the best looking cards in the hobby. Pics do it no justice at all.

D Stoudamire (9).jpg

2017-18 Panini Donruss Optic - Fast Break Signatures - Just not the same in the Blazers jersey, is it?!

D Stoudamire (10).jpg

2015-16 Panini Totally Certified - Certified Competitor Autographs /99 (on card) - This satsifies all the cravings, THAT jersey, on card and some serial numbering to boot.

D Stoudamire (11).jpg

Well that's it for now, nothing top end or spectacular but soemthing different to look at and remember from days gone by. I need to get me a signed jersey one of these days, sorry, not "A" signed jersey, "THE" signed jersey. Those early Mighty Mouse years shall live long and vivid in my memory banks. #20 FTW!

Thansk for stopping by and having a look (and a read). Comments and likes much appreciated. Next mailday up soon...

Nice to see a player who is a little outside the norm featured.

He was one of my favourites in the mid '90s and you are certainly right the Trailblazers look is not the same as the Raptors!

It's amazing what one post can do. I didn't really follow the NBA during this time so had to google Stoudamire. That then lead to a search for the smallest NBA players and I've just read the wikipedia page of Muggsy Bogues. Enough to bring a tear to a glass eye.

Cheers

Great cards.

Great pick ups...... he was one hell of a player!

Seems like a different world back then, everyone had a soft spot for Mighty Mouse!

Pretty sure there was a watch collector on here who had Damon Stoudamire as his main PC player. Outside the norm is what I do best though mate!

Good call mate, I'm definitely not as much into the modern game as I was into basketball a decade or two ago. There's just no way another Muggsy Bogues or sub 6ft PG is taken as a top 10 or lottery pick and potential franchise player. Different times, different game but it's all still basketball at the end of the day!

Glad I sent you down the rabbit hole / wild goose chase - never know where you end up!

As soon as I seen Mighty I was thinking hmmmm who could this be - then seen Mouse and new straight away lol

Some great cards there - I've been procrastinating picking up a KG Skyonix because I wasn't sure if it looked good or not -

25 cards set - 1:53 pack odds - pretty decent - might look into getting one next time I'm stocking up from COMC!

I take pride in my cryptic mailday titles! lol

I had the same reservations about Skyonix - all of the scans and images looked pretty ordinary. They are pretty hard to position to get in just the right light. The horizontal red stripe is the blingy / refractory part, the word skyonix is sligtly embossed underneath the horizontal stripe on the left hand side and the circles turn up best in an almost lenticular manner. Really odd card but something a bit different, not everybody's cup of tea I'd say.

Skyonix are slightly harder to find than the Gallery Exhibit from my mailday - all pretty reasonable prices still too

I think were vibing ona similar wavelength - so based on that logic, I dare say you should definitely get a Skyonix in the not too distant future. What's the worst that could possibly happen? ...Besides writing me off as a crackpot...lol
