Jagging two PC autos is a pretty good result Shannan, although you're right about the overall depth of hits.
That's the problem with Contenders imo, for the price of a box, the chances of a mega hit seem pretty slim, particularly since there are only autos to be had. Not much depth in the insert sets either. It's a pity because this set has great concepts and card design.
I got a box last year and most of the autos I got never played a game, so I didn't jump in this time. Not yet anyway.
Not a bad box for you at all, but Contenders has been a bit flat this year I thought....could do with a brand refresh - a handful of $5 autos just aren't cutting it....

I do like that Contenders does tend to include a couple players that are not in other releases which is cool, but when those players have not been on a team since Training Camp. it's not so great! And it is good that some of the not so "collectable" guys tend to be SP's or SSP's (except the ones I pull of course... ). I think the a lot of products have been a bit flat this year and I imagine a lot of it has to do with the weaker draft class. Manizeal and Bridgewater should help this year, plus there is a couple other QB's that could be popular too (like Bortles and Derek Carr), what looks like a strong WR class also and what could be a couple good defensive guys hobbywise (Clownley and Sam).
Hard to argue that the '13 draft class flopped a bit collector wise. EJ & Geno didn't quite match it with Luck & RG3.
Lacy, Patterson, Bernard, Allen, Bell were represented but not too many sets had top rated guys like Richardson, Alonso, Lotulelei.
Not a QB in sight, maybe Mike Glennon and he was pretty much ignored.
Yeah Glennon has been very quiet hobby wise, which surprises me because he had a pretty good season. If you work on the averages for Glennon in his 13 starts, had he started all 16 his stats would have had better numbers than Tannehill did in his rookie season, pretty similar to RG3 actually with just a couple more INT.
Hell what Matt McGloin averaged passing yards over 6 games would have equated to over 4000 yards!
tough break even though a cpl Raiders was a small consolation. That's the prob with contenders, it's so hit and miss, but when it's "hit" - its usually glorious! The "miss" has always scared me off considering the price. I think this year is real tough as I dont think there are any base auto's that will pay for the box, unlike the last cpl of years.
Yeah very much so. EJ base autos only sell for $30-$40 and the variation $100 (Geno even less for both). About the only guy who appears to sell decently is Eddie Lacy. Still, I always enjoy a Contenders break.
I enjoyed Contenders coz there's 24 packs. Prestige & R&S the same. It's a true box-busting event.
The boxes of six, four, one packet don't have the same feel. Bigger hits on offer maybe, but where's the fun?

That thompson is nice to. Its nice looking stuff but if the odds are that low for a box which is a bit of $ then it seems like a bit of a waste. The thing is you never know tho. Nice pc hits mate
