2013/14 Ashes non Official thread !!

Swanny 's done the right thing. I think he's averaging 99 per wicket this series and only took 7 wickets in the winter series. KP might be the next to go.

May have. He said in his recent interview his arm doesn't cope we'll bowling 30-40 overs per innings. It's hard to believe he made his test debut in 2008.

Saw this on facebook Cricket Memes. Had a laugh.

We did'nt get our own way today which can happen when you play attacking cricket,it will be interesting to see how the team goes as they are not the front runners, with England's batting been a bit brittle I think there will be a result, the other question is can Watson bowl,if he can't bowl I don't think he can hold his own as a batsman, so we may have a couple of changes for Sydney.
And lastly a big "hats off" to Mitch, you will go a long way to see quality fast bowling that he has produced so far this summer

Kerry O'Keefe announced today he is retiring from broadcasting after the Sydney test... Will sure miss his humour... Or the fact the man can laugh at himself!! Gold I say !

Very well said mate :) I first saw Kerry on the old Channel 7 pay-tv show "At the Wicket" and have been a fan ever since. KOK and David Lloyd as a double act would be bloody brilliant!

Following the departures of Trott and Swann, this is a worse England team than the one that was beaten 5-0 in 2006-07.

The "bowling committee" meetings and negative field placings this morning were bloody ridiculous and annoying - it is one of the things about cricket that has crept in to the game and become so unnecessary.

The field placings in particular got on my gander. It is not that many summers ago that Pakistan were accused of fixing the SCG Test due to the manner in which Hussey and Siddle were able to construct a big partnership with little or no pressure on them.

I don't understand why captains even THINK about putting every f**ker on the fence when the new ball is one or two overs old!! I admire Alastair Cook but by Christ, I would love to see a bit of mongrel and positivity from him.

Yeah mate agree on the constant bowling gatherings, shit me to tears. Take this morning for example. After a few overs they gathered , you'd think they'd already had a plan prepared.
As a Englishman I've been annoyed and frustrated the way we've played in all facets this series. But give credit were its due Australia have been great. I expect it to be 4-0 sometime tomorrow.

Went Boxing Day going to head there today you would think they might throw open the gates with the the crowds they have had for the first three days, over 230,000 people
Long live the M.C.G.!!!

Wow, that appeared to be a far easier a win than it should have been - aided by the generous captaincy of Alastair Cook.

I am absolutely delighted for Chris Rogers and Nathan Lyon in particular, it is always nice to see hard-working, dedicated "unfashionable" players succeed in this era of wizz bang cricket.

I have enjoyed hearing Geoff Boycott go nuts during the series and Botham have to eat his words too :)

Yeah great to see Rogers score a ton. Watto finally made some key runs.

The best things is, this team can improve.
I'd like to see another specialist batsmen come through. I think if Watto is in and bowling, we should move Bailey on.

Saffa series is gonna be a belter.

Yeah gotta agree with that and the team will only get better,
We have to win this last test or draw as we have tended to drop these types of matches
Looking at Harris he could do with a rest with that knee and get him right for S.Africa
Bailey is the one who is under pressure, but hard to drop some one from a winning team as everyone plays there part

And Bailey also doesn't mind doing the dirty work. I totally agree they should rest Harris. Jackson Bird in the side would be nice. But I can't see him sitting out.

We are blessed with fast bowlers with the likes of Bird, who looked good the other night in the big bash,Patterson is back tonight in the big bash with the renegades let's hope they can stay injury free,I think they will rest Harris and maybe give Faulkner a run if Watson is fit and able to bowl

England with 3 debutants, surprised they dropped Joe Root

Aus are 163-5 currently, fighting back after not the best start
