I do remember seeing those cards (with certificates) back in the late 90's. I have no doubt about them being real!

You had to collect a certain amount of tokens that were in the packets (I think it was a box worth) and you could send them in to Intrepid to get one. There was one player for each of the 20 teams.
 
hey guys its been a while these cards where a promotion by dynamic 96 s2 where u could send 48 empty wrappers in and redeem your choice of mvp
