Here are a few things I would like to see for 2021 NRL releases;

Triple centurion / 300 game club case cards to commence and continue to the tune of 2-4 players per release moving forward.

TLA to get predictors right - This years theme was a big improvement (some of the MM choices were questionable..) but it is a waste only being able to redeem 50 sets (excluding premiers). I think the team Predictors should be 1:3 boxes, not numbered (unless TLA agree to match up the serials upon redemption) and for example if there are 400 predictors, then there should be 400 redeemable sets. This would help the ongoing value of Traders boxes / packets.

Dally M predictor to be introduced. 1:6 boxes, numbered, 5 players per team and a wildcard. To be redeemed for a Dally M player signature card.

State of Origin magic moment set - One card per year, 1980- Artie plays for QLD, 1984 - GD try off the crossbar in pouring rain at SCG, 1985 - Turvey leads Blues to first series win, etc, etc etc.

A very high end release at the end of the year like the AFL Brilliance. This would be amazing, not everyone's cup of tea or budget but with enough notice, this would be a great addition.

Thoughts?

I think TLA would like the 300 Club idea so as they can put another 20 Slater and 20 Smith cards in every set. The idea is a good one I just think that it may be better served as a "Special Release" rather than in Traders or Elite. To me it creates a bad balance in these releases to be so one team centric. I know I am still bitter. If it was contained to 1 base card and 1 signature card per player and repeated I would be onboard.

I like the Dally M predictor idea this would be something that would continue to generate trading / selling throughout the season. Perhaps positional Dally M cards as well and this could then be a 3rd separate release.

I also the Brilliance release idea but not for 2021 as I think with it being the St George Centenary year there should be a Special release celebrating Rugby Leagues greatest club. ;)

Cheers
Ross

I'd like more variety of players. For example, Christian Welch has never had a base card despite playing nearly 100 NRL games, several origins and a world club challenge. He's had a faces of the game card and that's it but, I've had Felise kaufusi pretty much every year and every release since 2015.

Would like a club legend series. Preferably signed. Where the go back to a past player for each club over a 2 year period and get some different signatures out there. I'd love Marcus Bai!

@Brendan_B couldn’t agree more!
Prem predictors need to be fixed to hold more value like select 2004-2012.
Maybe the break down could follow the footy stars method (I can hear the growns, but it worked well this year). Dally M/ Prem Predictors that are always in play will help traders hold value beyond the half way point of an NRL season. Just a though going off your idea how it would possibly work.

12 Box Case Breakdown:
- SAS Authentic Sig (Numbered): 1 in 12 (1 a case)

- Premiership Predictor (Numbered) : 1 in 6 Boxes (2 a case)

- Dally M Predictor (Numbered): 1 in 4 Boxes ( 3 a case)

- SAS Bronze: 1 in 4 Boxes (3 a case)

- Retirements: 1 in 4 Boxes (3 a case)

Pretty sure after last years elite that Melbourne don’t even have a base set this year to make up for it 😂

I was hoping for a Billy Slater Legends Auto ;)
Yeah I’m only joking , to be honest the 3 Slater cards were close to my favourite and I hope they continue with another big name Paul Gallen 😂😂. Where are the other 35 Smith auto patches though ??? Really wanted one but I suppose so did everyone

Ha Love the concept and idea, they have to do one of 2 things though. Have 1 signer and 100 cards of each or 2 signers and 100 cards of each. 200 of each brough a nice 1 in 2 case hit down to $130 secondary market value. 100 each and one in 2 or 4 case would be much better and help retain long term value.

So didn't know where to put this but this thread seems like a good place.
Was listing to the Future Unique podcast about soccer cards, anyway they where talking about cards in general and they said they where working on some NRL cards and where having a lot of fun coming up with the designs/ making them and then moved on to soccer again. I wonder if this is just for the NRL Elite 1/1 or is their a 3rd high end set this year also????

From the bits that I have heard on live breaks etc, a very high end release like Brilliance is certainly in the pipeline but not this year, possibly just referencing the 1/1 from Elite.

Likely just the 1/1 cards and hopefully the remaining spotlight cards for this year for the teams that have missed out.

I would be a big fan of having a high end one card/pack release which has a patch auto (in a one touch) #/75 for each team, with say a #/25 Prime Patch Version and maybe a #/5 Premium Patch Version (think Tags/NRL Logo/Team Logo etc).

You could also do one for each Origin team and even an Australian/NZ team player to make up 20 players in total.

I truly think TLA has some really good concepts but in terms of making hay while the sun shines in terms of cashing in on the card craze at present, they are certainly not fulfilling demand and leaving a lot of money on the table.

I think what TLA needs to focus on is following the instructions on redeeming the Predictors. Like Jeezus Christ, there was so many little loopholes of what makes a predictor redeemable, and how do you qualify for the team photos.

Would love another highend release for NRL, this makes it easier for collectors of both AFL/NRL given select are definitely doing 4 releases and heard might be possibility of more this year. Add all the side hustles of weekly cards, Prem sets, help us all.

I’d like this. But it just has to be something that maintains value. It’s a challenge in the NRL card market. If they did it they couldn’t have the usual quota of garbage players and must be high quality cards (sigs/patches).

Unfortunately I don’t think TLA have the ability to pull this off.

Dump the whole concept they have. start again. The are still trying to carve up a dead horse that is only a skeleton left. For 2022 Collectors would love a change. Maybe then it will hold some value.

Unfortunately I don’t think TLA have the ability to pull this off.

I think they have the resources to make a nice high end release, I just don't believe they have the genuine passion, ideas or the understanding of what collectors really want (especially in the mid-high end space) and they will probably continue to release the same sets as they always have - at least for this year id expect.

I am still amazed that given the boom in cards and even seeing how other companies have tried to take advantage of this boom that TLA as a business have not looked to do more during this period.

Maybe they don't want to and that's fine, and while there does need to be some continuity across years (the Legends Autos have worked well) people are feeling things are getting a little stale and losing some interest, I know I am losing interest in their releases even while my interest in the game is probably is at the highest its been and I cant wait for the season to start.

I guess my biggest frustration is that there are so many cool things they could do, just seems they don't want to take the risk to do them....... even in a boom time for the industry where even average products are selling sell out.

Its not like they haven't had plenty of people offering good solid ideas either!
