I managed to get my hand on this display. It was never for sale as it was only awarded to the players on the greatest 100 list or to the immediate family of any deceased players that made the list. 48 genuine hand signed signatures out of the top 100.

They have one of these in the Canterbury Leagues Club, it looks great in person.

It really is an awesome display. I couldn’t believe my luck when I seen it advertised for sale. It is also signed at the back of the display addressed to me by the “guru” Eric Grothe snr as it was awarded to him for making the list.

i was told by the seller that he doesn’t keep stuff like that as he isn’t really sentimental with things like trophies, medals and the like.

But yeh, money would probably help these older ex players as the big money contracts just were not there like they are now.

My boy plays in the Canterbury comp and 80% of the teams are connected to RSL/ leagues clubs ,some of the highest turnover pokies in Sydney and they contribute the bare minimum. Not sure where all the money goes ?

Not that I’m ever going to sell this item but it would be interesting what the dollar value of this would be. Seeing as though they were never for sale to the public and only players or deceased players families recieved them.

Not really bothered as it’s only signed on the back of the frame not visible at all. Just got it addressed to me and signed as a bragging point to friends that it was actually Eric Grothe snr personally awarded item for making the top 100
