2019 TLA Elite - Official Thread

Jarrah, i know someone that has so ,any llb from 2012 it would make your blood boil, 34 braith anastas for start, if you want to buy all his cards you could start at around 50k

It's all good to have them all and drive up the price but what happens when no one wants them?

There was a guy in the US who bought up a heap of one of Kobe's Exquisite Jersey card #/75...... they started out at $200 each and then quickly went to $2000 each. People stopped buying them and about 2 years later the seller started selling them off........they then ended up selling back down towards where they started selling at $200.

The guy overpaid for a heap of them and when sold lost a heap of money.

One question, how many people are queuing up with $50K to buy these 34 Anasta cards....even if it it included all the others in the set I highly doubt anyone would stump up that amount.

He could ask 100 million but if no one is buying them they arent ever getting sold!
Matt, that's his whole collection, if I had 50k to spend, I would be snapping up every card.
34 out 50 braith anastas and all the other blacks and golds along with 1963 cards and everything else he has. 50k is dirt cheap.
He will even hire a truck and personally deliver it.

Pretty much right on,
There are more people on here that call them selves collectors, when all they do is buy heaps of product, predominantly elite, because of the ratios of cards to cases, bust all the boxes and flog the product from daylight to dusk, this is why elite pretty much sells out, where as traders does not.
When there is so many people trying to make coin on their product , the market becomes flooded and becomes not worth what they pay for it.
There is no fix for it, unless you increase the product price, when you do this ,
People will wonder if they can afford to buy product, if you do not have product selling, then you have to stop producing product.
So where does that leave the passionate collector, up s*** creek without cards.
Most collectors Are team set collectors these days, mainly because of the expense, ie way too many numbered cards to collect.
Whats a full set of cards worth to collect these days, elite 10k,15k.
Its only going to get worse as they produce more and more cards, even traders has had an increase in the amount of numbered cards produced,
Imo select had a good balance of cards.
As Jarrah has put up previously, you will not stop this, its like trying to stop the stock market, or for instance trying to stop someone that likes kalyn ponga, collecting all his black sig cards from last set.
If that person has the funds to do it, you gunna have to wait.
Sooner or later it will happen, that persons has to sell up at some stage.
I’ve gotta disagree and have a possible solution that will be unpopular but I believe it would be the only way to correct it ?
All stock to be sold only through newsagents with a profit of say $30 per box for the newsagent . If everyone is paying the same for product then it will stop a certain couple acquiring 30 cases for a significantly reduced price and dumping cheap product on eBay 3 months after release and destroying any value that the true collector may have after paying full price ?

Joel, that may be 1 of the best concepts yet, that's how it was before the www. become involved.
sites like this would be flourishing again.
