What we could expect for 2019 releases

whitfield is confirmed. I would say whitfield, davis, shaw and himmelberg. Suns i reckon ainsworth, witts, hanley and sexton (Hard to even come up with names lol).

Richmond i would love rioli, butler, rance and riewoldt if they havnt been done. If they have someone like higgins or brandon ellis

I like the look of the AFLW cards on today’s Select preview. A nice, basic design allowing the player themselves to be the main feature.

That's a huge improvement on last year. Nice looking cards.

Thought this was interesting before it got deleted off the Select FB page. I’m not really into buying boxes or packs, as it’s easier to pick up the Hawks inserts I’m after.

So basically setting the low point on price before it’s even released and devaluing the product and undercutting their resellers?

Wow!

Yeah i was told apparently not enough interest which i found odd as i could guarantee those 50 sets would sell out on the spot. I mean i would grab 2 so that leaves 48 and i know a few just off my head who would take a couple.

I might contacy select and ask as a shame of they dont do the set.

And theres alot more to the whole situation than the persons oponion above. Two sides to every story and clearly some agenda and personal reason for that post

Sorry your message came in as writing matt lol im not refering to you i was refering the actual post on facebook. Some valid points but as o saod twonsides to every story and the truth loes somewhetr in the middle

Nah thats cool!

Let me ask you a question.........I go in to my local dealer who sells Footy Stars at $95 a box, im going to say to him immediately well I've seen them for $90 online why wont you match that price? They do it cause they dont want to be stuck with stock, so it sets the benchmark for the box price.

So the next reseller who has stock wants it gone and then its at $89 a box......and so on until a few people are making only a dollar or 2 margin on a box sale which pisses off all resellers. No margin = pissed off resellers.

The resellers then say why would I take the risk next time of loading up on stock (sinking their cash into sealed stock) when they can do what a lot of the smart resellers are doing these days......order stock to fill the orders they have for customers and hold very little left over. If they need it, then will order again to fill orders.

I just have to wonder with Selects mindset........they have had a few swings and misses of late.

Accoring to their "spokesman" they have plenty of the Christmas packs left.

They have now accoridng to the posts above ditched the Draft Set.

.....and now they are devaluing their product through their "official spokesperson" weeks before release?

This is on top of really pissing off their biggest wholesaler Wang who has been associated with them for many years by selling off old product cheaply (which Wang has lots invested in) to try and make a few more backdoor sales on the side via group breaks?

They really dont seem to be thinking this through much?

Sure there are 2 sides to every story but from what I can see they havent done themselves any favours of late.

Bloody hell.... it never used to be this complicated when I first started collecting footy cards in the late 1980's. Back when it was just a fun hobby. Greed, duplicity, self-interest and "mates rates" seems to be a prevalent theme in the modern age of producing, distributing and collecting cards. It's getting harder and harder to pick a side in this caper!

Unfortunately where there is money to be made this will always be the case.

As always there is no greater interest than self interest.

I think you will find when companies outsource their creative work to mug punters on the street (especially those that look to benefit financially from this) then there will always be politics, greed, ego and self interest at play.

In saying that there are some big resellers in the industry who do provide some great advice to some companies and you see the results of this in the product. But those that are only in it to make $$$ out of it appear to be falling short in their ideas at the moment.
