2019 Elite - Concept

Yeah I went last year. Was not too bad. Three players from each team attended plus both full GF squads. Some teams sent some good players - Dragons had DeBelin, Vaughan and Aitken from memory. Some teams sent three under 20 players

How about a Head to Head concept? Examples could be TCarney vs Alcohol, Ricky Stuart vs all referees, Storm vs Salary Cap, Sharks vs Peptides, TSimona vs Fraud Squad, Robert Lui vs AVO’s, West’s Tigers vs Why can’t we attract a quality player, Phil Gould vs 5 year.. I mean 10 year ..I mean 15 year plan to win a premiership at Penrith. Bulldogs vs NRL on clothes optional mad Mondays. Anyone else got ideas?

Roosters vs salary cap sombero
Broncos with all their cap and TPA for the last 20 yrs vs no premiership
Newcastle vs tinkler
Dragons vs the merge
Parra vs salary cap/ wooden spoon

List goes on. Lol

I got bored one afternoon and came up with this one.....think with all the different logos on the jersey cards these days, some of these would be very cool.......but again what would I know?

And here is one I did for a mate who is a Storm fan.

Cheers

They look pretty good to me. I wouldn't mind seeing a position listed somewhere too though
e.g Cameron Munster
Five-Eighth

This is the set I would like to see:

192 base cards - 12 per team
Mojo same as this year
League sensation signature /100
League sensation signature black /45
Young guns signature /120
Young guns signature bkack /60
Emerging nations signature /100 (1 from each of PNG, Fiji, Samoa, Tonga)
Dally M Award winners
Cult heroes - a club player who might not make the base set but is a bit exciting, e.g at Storm the base set would probably be Addo-Carr, Asofa-Solomona, J.Bromwich, Finucane, F.Kaufusi, Croft, Munster, Scott, Vunivalu, C.Smith, B.Smith, Stimson and the cult hero could be Hughes.
Master and apprentice
Captain
Legend signature covering more modern legends - would love to see Lazarus in a Storm jumper.

Engine room (64) 1:3 packs
Elite garnets (32) 1:7 packs
Amethyst aces (18); 1:24 packs

YG crystal signature - black ink
YG pearl signature - silver ink
LS crystal signature - black ink
LS pearl signature - gold ink

Mojo ruby - 1:24 packs
Mojo sapphire - 1:48 packs
Mojo emerald - 1:96 packs
Mojo diamond - 1:192 packs
Mojo black opal 1/1 - 1:960 packs

Road to fortune Guernsey cards
RF 1 Manly /165 & /80
RF 2 Newcastle /165 & /80
RF 3 St George /165 & /80
RF 4 Tigers /165 & /80

Double header Guernsey cards
DH 1 Titans /100
DH 2 Warriors /100

Box card:
1 logo header card per club

Case card:
10th ruby mojo card for each club

1/1 card:
Refer to fifth mojo: black opal

Above is my next choice should there be no many cards in other concepts. Speaking of Matt storm I particularly like the emerging nations concept indeed: only con there is getting approval from the RL boards of those abroad states? Believe captain concept has been done to death for the moment and yes the legend concept for series one is one that ought to stay

What's what

Engine room (64; 1:3 packs): a revamp of the 16 elite concept and this to be the lowest end inset and due to all the mojo levels strictly no back end parallel set.

Elite garnets (32; 1:7 packs or approx 5:box): similar to elite impact or master and apprentice or run and gun: bottom line two different players both different to engine room. Printed on sparkling bronze board.

Amethyst aces (18; 1:box): this concept to depict the "big three: Smith, Slater and Cronk - 3 cards per player - each card depicting an individual highlight of their careers; printed on purple holofoil board thus corresponding to prominent Melbourne colour

YG crystal: same as YG silver /90 this year; only renamed crystal in line with other gemstone levels thus different players and designs

YG pearl: same as YG black this year only with a rainbow refracting background though dark matte panel remain to support silver ink

LS crystal (90) and pearl (40): same format as above and perl variant similar design to 17 traders parallel set in addition to dark matte panel to support a gold signature

Everything else straight forward and yes perhaps I've over done the gemstone hierarchy however TLA aren't going to come up with any fresh ideas too soon should it mean them spending money they aren't going to get a return on (I think!?)

With regards to the Basic sets, I would love a simple looking card with full body action shots (like the old Scanlen cards), Players Name, Position, Card No, logo, and team colours. I would like them to revert back to 12 cards per team (192 card basic set). I am sick of all the cards looking the same but after raising this with ESP vis Facebook their excuse is that it is too difficult for them to get approved photos these days of full body shots because things are in the way like other players etc. We all know that is rubbish and just a lame excuse. I have all the ESP sets and basically, the close-up shots are bordering on identical photos of the players each year aside from an updated jersey design.

I hope an ESP rep reads this and looks at my attached photo examples (Roosters team set) and we get some cards in 2019 that represent why the old style footy cards were great, they had full body action shots!!!!
