Slamonline talking about Australian basketball

That was awesome Josh! Thanx for that!!!

And it's so true!!!

Me being a massive basketball fan, I have come to love the Gold Coast Blaze!!

But the way its all ran and structured is totally wrong and not in the best interest in the team or City!

It's simply for Coach Joyce to let his son Daniel Joyce (who can't play at the elite level at all!!!) have a run on the basketball court and be paid for it!!!
While getting 2 points, 2 assists and 8 turnovers! He should be behind the development players!!! He still dribbles with his head down! Thats not a pro athlete!!!

It's a joke! and what are they now???? 0-5!!!

The league needs a make over and needs to restart up again!

Start fresh and have free-to-air games and advertisements!!!

The players here in Oz are really, very good!!! But have squat to get in return!!

Where's the endorsements and bonuses for players???? All the NRL and AFL players get them, but NBL don't get much mention!

Australia needs to wake up and save the league of the greatest sport in the world!

It's a sad sad state of affairs.

I won't forget that the NBL and WNBL found it pertinent to fold the Tasmanian teams when they were winning titles/competing in playoffs.

F*** them all I say.

I cannot stand basketball in this country for that reason alone. Bring back my Hobart Devils!

Here is a big problem - Round 1 Nbl started Sept - First Tv Game Late October?Rd 7 , 7 rounds until a televised game? why bother? who cares right?

Major problems of Nbl

* Tv coverage apart from Foxtel almost non-existant
* No Bullets/Kings - Minus a few thousand fans togehter
* only 10 teams
* No billboards, news coverage, hardly ever see basketball in the newspaper,
when was the last time you had seen Nbl get a mention on the news? its
almost like fight club -
The first rule about fight club is you don't talk about fight club.

The second rule about fight club is you don't talk about fight club.

* Salary Cap - the salary cap of a team is still less than a bottom of the barrell Nba player would get for a season , needs to be higher to attract a
decent import player

* Ask anyone on the street who plays in the Nbl? they won't have a clue,
needs an identity like in the boom of basketball .

The league could be so much better, it's just hanging in there at the moment, for anyone that says it doesn't have problems needs to wake up.
I don't understand how less teams will make it better, you do it right or scrap it entirely. Thats my thoughts anyway:(

Only 10 teams?? It should be less, until they can get the fan base back up to what it once was. They need to re-start with just the major cities, or the major BBALL CENTRES

I actually think 10 teams is a good number, had 13 last season...

2 teams in Melb (being the sporting capital should be room for 2 teams (tigers/dragons) are doing well attendance wise)

1 team in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and NZ.

Thats 7 teams, 3 more spots, 1 "north QLD team" which plays games in Townsville and Cairns, 1 NSW regional team, playing in Newcastle and Wollongong and maybe 1 team in ether Canberra or Hobart?

then again this model is pretty close to the way it is now i guess

God who knows... i could be way off

Hey is this link still working? it loads up then says Error 404 Not Found, though every other thing on the site loads up except the article... any new link?
