eurovision song contest: fire saga - 6/10. will ferrel is his typical self. has some laughs, but its pretty stoopid...
radioactive - 6/10. story of marie curie and her discovery of radium. hits all the famous parts, but has a real strange feel to it.
the case for christ - 2/10. lee strobel's pet project. if you want to see the 'best' christian apologetics has to offer, have a good laugh and get annoyed by illogical/straw-man reasoning, all at the same time, then this might be worth the torture of actually watching it.
black dog - 7/10. was looking for 90s action films i hadnt seen and came across this patrick swayze film. hes a recently paroled truck driver coerced into running guns for his new job. really dodgy with plot holes and over the top explosions.
BLACK DOG is easily forgotten, like you said its low standard and plot holes go from start to finish... and Swayze is no action hero

Cannon films...#13 - the arm wrestling Stallone classic OVER THE TOP (first view for years and years). Still has a very viewable feel to it.
It was always a eye raising event to use arm wrestling as the focus in this film, but it does work. Stallone does the family/kid bonding well, but you just want to get to the point and bring on the wrestling with some awesome bulging other wrestlers... STALLONE RULES
for the end of the 80's, its a good flick/not great 3***

EUROVISION-SONG CONTEST, FIRE SAGA (netflix) wow that was painful...hands down one of the worst films i have seen all year, what has happened to Will Farrell from a comedy star to this tripe. A young boy dreams of entering the eurovision comp and blah blah its not worth going into.... At 2 hours the film is painfully far to long. A complete stinker of a BOMB 1*/5

Have a look at Mile 22.Mark Wahlburg at his best.
I checked it ( MILE 22) and enjoyed.. good action scenes and fast moving!
Netflix...?
Deep waters horizon is great movie that's available. Done some research on it and everything in the movie happened. Mark walhberg directed it and got the survivors to help on set and put the script together as payed workers. He also had psychologists on set for them incase it became to distressing for them.

I thought DEEP WATER HORIZON was fantastic. action packed/tear jerker and looked great on screen
Walhberg has a knack for picking solid films...Patriots day was great and boogie nights is a cult classic!

well, i did conclude that overall its pretty dumb. was probably being very generous with a 6...but the fact that it wasnt taking itself seriously at all would stop me from putting it in my 'worst films of the year' list. that honor goes to stuff like 'the way back' or 'the invisible man' or 'capone'.
as for black dog, the inconsistent plot, dodgy explosions and country singing side-kick is kinda why i liked it. thought it fit in well with the 'dodgy action' movies we were discussing...

EDIT: marky mark is pretty cool and does well in alot of movies ('pain & gain' is also great), but i will never get over his performance in 'the happening'. truly terrible...

THE FOUNDER - (or the Mc donalds film) been out for a while, Very interesting and enjoyable film on Ray Kroc founder (well sought off) of the Mcdonalds franchise. Michael Keaton is great as Ray. Understanding the back story of this huge corporation was a eye opener.
Great little film 4****/5
