2019 NRL Glory Release Official Thread

I think that is less to do with the product and more to do with the market.

Some of the offers I get on half decent cards on eBay are disgraceful. No one wants to pay full value for cards anymore.

Halfbacks I rate better than Joey (from what I've seen) in no order. Raudonikis (could be seen as biased) Sterling , Langer, Alexander and Thurston. I have have John's next after this lot. The fact he had off field indiscretions only adds to my confusion why he was included as an immortal. Every one has there own opinion but when such accolades a bestowed upon a player more argument is needed than a few journos having an agreement of an opinion.
Darren, I'm a sparkie, not a journo.

This Glory release will be long gone and forgotten about once the 2019 Traders comes around in 2 months time and outstrips it for investment value. That doesn't say much for this so called Glory release IMO. Matt was on the money when he said he could have been better thought out and the sheer number of cards printed for the higher end inserts is a joke if you are looking for a series to hold any value.
how many cards are there, do you need 9 albums for this set.

Hook line and sinker! Ha ha ! I'm pissed off that I have personally have been essentially forced out of the hobby by the greed of the production line of parallel and sheer volume of subset crap that has been dished out over the past few years. Nothing personal against you or any other member on this site who have ben great to me over the years. I feel at this point in why life I have seen the light and in my opinion it's all downhill. I personally wished I could afford to keep up the hobby but the corporate greed has caught up with me. i truly wish you all the best in your collecting in the years ahead but i feel given all the investment I have put in over the years I have right to express my opinion. Just hope that some of the negative feedback I have issued falls on the ears of those that have input in what is dished out to the market place.

I don’t see it as biting Vic but just showing concern for the level of anger and negativity.

It is fine to have an opinion but product bashing is not the way to do it. Constructive criticism is, and what you are expressing is far from that.

You need to remember that there are many people who still make or try to make an honest living and look after collectors. I feel that this negativity may affect them but unfortunately this site has become a hive of negativity in recent months.

Yes, the hobby has changed significantly. Is that corporate greed? Is it because the vast majority of collectors wanted change? I would say both of those and more. Another significant factor is how many ‘collectors’ decided to try and make easy coin from the hobby by busting bulk product early and trying to sell for inflated prices before the market settled.

I don’t like every release on the market so I pick and choose what I collect. It is all a personal choice and at the end of the day it is a hobby, nothing more and nothing less.

At the end of the day Vic, you are perfectly entitled to express your view in any manner you want, that is the beauty of our nation. I would much rather remember you as the very decent bloke you are throughout our years of trade.

Good luck moving forward.

So far half way thru my box. Liking the cards. I do like seeing the cards numbered (parellels) (though it must be a Canberra box, most of the half the numbered parellels are raiders) however heaps of the base cards have been poorly (uneven, millimeters from the end of card

Vic, you have expressed the feeling's that I have to a tee, I have collected cards for 49 years, as you get older you start to think about superannuation, bills etc.
the cost of living and how old we are at present, then it bites you, shit am I going to get anything back on my investment in 5 years 10 years etc.
the answer is NO, WE WILL PROBABLY LOOSE MONEY AT THE RATE THEY ARE PRODUCING CARDS.
Even if we love it as a hobby, a lot of factors come in to play, even a team collector is up for at least 60% more then 6 years ago.
The manufacturers are not the ones to blame for this, they are a business, they have to make serious coin to survive.
It is us the collectors for buying the product, the more we buy the more they make.
This is why select done it for so long, they did not over produce, they produce AFL as well, so any moneys get distributed over a wider scale of product.
the collector can afford to chase cards for a little bit longer between releases, without having to rush in and get what they want before another release is offered.
Who know's what the answer is, no one.
Maybe they should stop making cards for 2 years, so the market can catch up.
I for one love cards, but for a collector it has got way to dear, imo.

Just going over the charter class and trying to confirm which is shark besides ET and sludge. I know Beetson coached us and so did Johnny raper I think

Is there any way we can put clubs next to charters induction ?
