Hey all, after coming back into the hobby after 5 months and selling all my giannis' which I undeniably regret.. being back I've tried to start pcing other players, and now tried to rehash an old set chase. But nothing feels right and I'm constantly changing my mind on what to collect. I've slowly started picking up cheap giannis cards(nothing special) here and there and I was just curious to see if anyone else has sold there pc only to come back and rebuild?

Thanks for reading

Didn't so much sell and re-distributed/ gave away a number of cards from old 1990's PC's (Schrempf, J-Wallace, Mario Bennett). In The last few years. i've decided to re-start those particular pc's and have built them up to better levels than earlier even though there are some cards i had back then that i don't have now. It can be done, it's just a matter of being in the right place and the right time.

Yeah. Awesome to know it can be done but better too:thumbsup:

I have dabbled with a few side pc's (Dom Wilkins, Drummond and Shumpert) only to realise I don't have the commitment or interest in anything other than my Ennis pc. My advice choose a player or sets that you really want and go for that only. Can get stagnant at times if there's nothing available for a while but keeping focus is part of the fun.
Just do what YOU like not chase likes, comments etc. If you care and nobody else does that's what it is really about. YOUR collection and what makes YOU enjoy it.

THIS EXACTLY!!! and so well put!

When I started back in the hobby I would buy cards that I knew others thought were really nice cards or they were worth heaps and the market was chasing them. I did that because I liked people to see that I had cards they envied and wanted... but after a week those cards didn't even appeal to me and they were sold off just as quickly as they came. It was a never ending cycle and my wants changed nearly every 2nd day.

But I always collected Kemp cards and I always will. I'm not forcing myself to do it and when I hold those babies in my arms, i couldn't G.A.F. that I don't own 5 jordan RCs or a lebron exquisite.
I'd like to buy that 700 us dollar giannis prizm rc bgs 9.5 on the bay right now cause I know that's going to double in value in 5 years time... but you know what... I'd rather spend that $700 on a Shawn Kemp Immaculate patch auto when they drop in a couple months time and that is going to make me moister than an oyster.

In saying that, if Giannis is the guy that you really like as in, gives you wood as Kemp does for me, then I say do it. Slowly build that pc back up, get a few cards and then evaluate how you feel about it.

As Dylan said, just be happy with what you are doing!

Haha ohh he gives me wood alright.. at first I was hesitant coz his cards cost a sh!t ton. But I managed to get a studio insert for dirt cheap and it got me up like a half opened pocket knife and I knew then that he's my one and only:hearts: there are a lot of people investing in him which Sucks but hey what do u do

Well put mate.. thanks for sharing

Moister than an oyster and got me up like a half opened pocket knife... two of the funniest things I have seen on OCT. Well done boys

Some awesome comments in this thread.

Couldn't agree more about collecting what you love. I made the mistake of buying cards to try and resell. But since I didn't have the passion for those players and didn't research the market thoroughly, I still have half those cards that I couldn't sell plus lost money I could have spent on more high value PC wants.

One of my PC guys is Dan Uggla. Non-Baseball collectors would say who? Some newer baseball collectors would say who?

Do I care? Nope. He is one of my guys and who I want to collect.

Obviously with lesser stars you also get the bonus of collecting at a lower cost, but at the end of the day collect whoever the hell you want and makes you happy.

I feel for you because 13-14 products are now stupidly expensive all on the back of how great Giannis is.

13-14 Select and Prizm were $70 and $45 usd a year ago, now Select is $110usd and you be hard pressed to find a case of 13-14 Prizm now.

Some cheaper products you may wish to look at is 13-14 Intrigue or Signatures. still cheapish and with nice RC hits of the Freak if you want to bust boxes.

But yeah, singles are pricey as hell.

As you know @BeauZo I'm in the same boat as you with my Paul George PC. Cash got tight and I was pretty much forced to sell most of my mid-high end cards. I was lucky in a way because he was killing it at the time and I was able to recoup almost $10k to pay the bills and put food on the table. Now that the financial tide has somewhat turned and cash is becoming available I was wondering whether to continue the chase and try to get back those cards I sold or start somewhere else.

I have done both, I'm going to slowly build up my PG PC again by picking up the low end cards to start AND have started a cheaper PC of Terrence Ross as he now plays for my team! To me, it is a win-win. I continue to PC Paul George, plus I can pick up those rarer cards of a young guy I like for a fraction of the cost compared to PG.

My advice is that you have to have something in life that you can focus on away from family and work. If it is Giannis then go for it!

I know.. last year I got a box of prizm for under a $100.. I'd hate to know what they are now..
