HD TV & DVD Recorders

On the topic of this, I'm wondering...

We've a HDTV (High Def TV), and a DVD Recorder. Now normally everything is tuned thru the VCR/DVD Rec's, but since we've the HDTV, how do you record/tape the HD shows that are on the HD channels? Without a HD Receiver in the DVD Recorder?

I'm assuming it's not possible, but thought I'd throw the question out there for those who may know.

So, you have a HD TV with built in HD tuner? And a SD DVD recorder....

Not possible to do unless you can output the signal from the TV (don't know if they bother with this on built-in HD boxes, I have an two external STB's, one HD, one SD). Even if you could record the HD shows I don't think you would get any advantage over recording SD shows as the SD DVD recorder just doesn't have the capability to output the HD signal at any better than SD quality.
