Keatoboy v Eels Guru
In the first match of the competition Keatoboy's team batted first but were on the back foot early, losing two quick wickets including the massive one of Don Bradman for just 3. However the wicket of Bradman brought Kohli in, who was the backbone of the innings in scoring 159. No-one else passed 50 but it enabled Keatoboy's XI to post 374. Andy Roberts took 3 wickets for Eels Guru's team.
Eels Guru's XI never got going in reply, as top-order wickets fell cheaply before the tail was cleaned up quickly. Only Brendon McCullum was able to stay in for any significant period of time as he made 42* out of a total of 152. Steyn was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/39.
This enabled Keatoboy's team to enforce the follow-on which they duly did. Again wickets fell at regular intervals throughout the innings, and in the end another innings without a fifty meant that Eels Guru's team slumped to an innings defeat. This time Sydney Barnes was the chief destroyer, finishing with 4/51.
Keatoboy 374 (Kohli 159) defeated Eels Guru 152 (Steyn 3/33) & 163 (Barnes 4/51) by an innings and 59 runs.

May-Z's team got first go with the willow and made a decent fist of things, thanks mainly to a couple of West Indians. George Headley (127) and Everton Weekes (76) put on 167 for the third wicket, before a middle-order collapse meant the team total ended on only 333 from a strong position. Adam Gilchrist took five catches and Glenn McGrath five wickets for mounteverest's team.
There were three major contributions in the reply, but no centuries, as Greenidge, Crowe and Richards all got within sight of a century before being dismissed for mounteverest's XI. Greenidge was the highest scorer with 82, while some handy contributions from the lower order (including 21* from McGrath) meant mounteverest took a 24-run first-innings lead.
It was delicately balanced, but soon it strongly in mounteverest's favour - McGrath took three early wickets in May-Z's second innings and they never recovered, with only Victor Trumper (72) providing any resistance. Richie Benaud swept through the middle-order to end with 4/25.
The result looked a foregone conclusion with the target being just 130, but George Lohmann had other ideas. He took three early wickets to put the pressure right back on mounteverest. Mike Procter then joined the fun as they were reduced to 8/96, still 34 from victory. Mitchell Johnson and Michael Holding brought them within seven, but Lohmann dismissed Holding and then McGrath three balls later to seal a remarkable victory for May-Z.

Scotty_WCE's XI batted first and it was a case of most batsmen making starts but no-one going on with it. Five batsmen passed 40 but none 60, as a consistent yet frustrating batting performance yielded fifties to Sunil Gavaskar (56) and Allan Border (54). All of BLOWN8's bowlers took wickets, with Kapil Dev's 4/35 being the pick of the figures as Scotty_WCE put up a 341-run total.
BLOWN8's team started well in reply, with Matthew Hayden and Sachin Tendulkar both making scores in the seventies but again both failing to go on with it. Kapil Dev followed up his fine bowling performance with an important 49, but Bill O'Reilly spun out the tail on his way to a five-wicket haul as BLOWN8 fell six runs short of Scotty_WCE's first-innings score.
It was going to take a special performance to tear the game open and this was provided by Scotty_WCE's Len Hutton, who scored 183* and was part of an unbeaten 228-run partnership with Garry Sobers (119*). However captain Allan Border must have been in one of his famous grumpy moods after being dismissed for a second-ball duck, as he declared the innings at 4/448, depriving Hutton of the chance to score a double.
BLOWN8's batsmen faced a gargantuan chase of a 455-run target, or batting out 115 overs for a draw. Hayden fell early but Graeme Smith had solid partnerships with Tendulkar and Steve Waugh on his way to 117 to give them some hope. Smith was bowled by Wasim Akram but some solid batting from Mike Hussey (56) and Kapil Dev (63*) meant BLOWN8's men secured a draw.

Wookiedragon batted first and would have been disappointed to only have three batsmen pass 15. Wally Hammond (37) and Kumar Sangakkara (43) played support acts for Steve Smith, who belted 135* to be the shining light of the innings. Matty76's bowlers shared the wickets around, but Joel Garner returned the best figures of 4/79.
Neither of Matty76's openers lasted long, but his number three Neil Harvey made up for it as he almost matched Smith with a sublime 129. He was also involved in a 145-run partnership with Graeme Pollock who scored 71 before being run out. Richard Hadlee (36*) batted well with the tail to give his side a 110-run lead after the first innings. For Wookiedragon's team, opening quick Fred Spofforth stood out with 4/64.
Wookiedragon's batsmen needed to stand up to give their bowlers something to defend, but this time no-one was able to accumulate the big score that was required. Smith backed up his century with 40 and Sangakkara made 42 but the loss of the last three wickets for no runs meant the target was in double figures. Matty76's batsmen had Ray Lindwall to thank for this, as he returned outstanding figures of 6/55.
And so all that was left was for Matty76's top-order to polish off the 74-run target. It looked momentarily dicey as both openers were dismissed quickly again, with the score 2/4 when Ken Barrington walked in. But he and Harvey steadied the ship and guided their team to a comfortable eight-wicket victory.

Keatoboy won the toss and elected to bat, and it proved to be a good decision. Lara (47) and Bradman (51) lay a platform before Kohli continued his hot form, scoring his second ton in two games. Indeed, he couldn't be dismissed as he finished on 132* out of a strong team total of 405, with Tony Greig also contributing with 83. Mitchell Johnson cleaned up the tail to end with figures of 4/65.
mounteverest's reply started well with an opening partnership of 111, but no other batsman apart from the openers could pass fifty as wickets fell at fairly regular intervals. Desmond Haynes was top-scorer with 58 out of his team's score of 295, while Botham took three wickets.
So Keatoboy's XI went into their second innings with a 110-run lead, and they took advantage of this to really put the foot on the throat. This time Kohli wasn't required to be the star, as all of the top three made scores above 70 headlined by AB de Villiers' 133. A declaration came with the lead at 457, leaving mounteverest's men with a massive task ahead.
Sadly for mounteverest the challenge was too great, as only Barry Richards showed any prolonged fight; but fight he did, ending with a massive score of 164*. If he had anyone to support him it may have been a different story, but no other batsman passed 40 as Keatoboy's team emerged victors by an even 100 runs.

May-Z's batsmen would have seen an opportunity to put the game strongly in their team's favour. George Headley scored a brilliant 157 and was well supported by Everton Weekes (58), but the last three wickets falling for only two runs meant their lead was 96 when it could have been so much bigger.
Still, Scotty_WCE's batsmen would need to show considerably more fight to stand a chance of saving the game. In stepped Hutton (72) and Richards (113), two in-form batsmen who swung the game back to at least even. Rahul Dravid then made 77 himself as the declaration came early on the last day. May-Z's batsmen would need 301 runs off 80 overs.
