Well, since the 2016 season is over, I thought that I might create a new thread for the offseason, where we can post about what's happening during training camps, post our season predictions, etc.

So, lets go.

Mate, I beg that you DON'T revisit my 2016 predictions :) To quote Marge Simpson (to Homer, regarding the failed rapture): "You couldn't predict six o'clock at five-thirty!!".

I am looking forward to the inaugural - and I think it's the first one, too!! :) - Women's League. You only have to look at the popularity and ratings of the WBBL cricket to see that people will watch a genuine contest featuring high-end talent.

From my point of view, Hawthorn's off-season trading has left me feeling very uneasy about the season ahead, Jarryd Roughead's return notwithstanding. I actually predict a difficult final three seasons of Clarko's tenure. The major fear is that the team will become a so-so middle-table outfit who may have to bottom out and rebuild. The youth hasn't really come on as quickly as expected and our best clutch players are habitually our older ones. That's the big concern.

What about your Tigers mate?

Nice observation Matt!

I actually think our list can make the finals. It sucks that Deledio has left, but a future first is pretty solid compensation, and we got two sensational grabs in Caddy and Prestia.

Our team played in the finals just two years ago, and I think our new recruits from the draft and free agency will bring us back into the finals.

I'll make some bold predictions from across the league tomorrow morning!

I like it!

I'll post my ladder across now

1. Sydney Swans, 17-5
2. GWS Giants, 16-6
3. Geelong Cats, 15-7
4. Western Bulldogs, 14-8
5. Adelaide Crows, 14-8
6. Saint Kilda Saints, 14-8
7. West Coast Eagles, 13-9
8. Fremantle Dockers, 11-11
-------------------------
9. Melbourne Demons, 10-12
10. Hawthorn Hawks, 10-12
11. Richmond Tigers, 10-12
12. North Melbourne Kangaroos, 9-13
13. Port Adelaide Power, 8-14
14. Collingwood Magpies, 8-14
15. Essendon Bombers, 7-15
16. Gold Coast Suns, 6-16
17. Carlton Blues, 4-18
18. Brisbane Lions, 1-21

That's right, I think Fremantle will get back to the finals after one year out.
I also think that Brisbane will win only ONE game in the entire season.
That's how bad their list is.

1. GWS Giants,
2. Sydney Swans,
3. Geelong Cats,
4. Western Bulldogs,
5. Adelaide Crows,
6. West Coast Eagles,
7. Saint Kilda Saints,
8. Essendon Bombers,
-------------------------
9. Melbourne Demons,
10. Fremantle Dockers,
11. Richmond Tigers,

13. Port Adelaide Power,
14. Collingwood Magpies,
15. Carlton Blues,
16. North Melbourne Kangaroos,
17. Gold Coast Suns,
18. Brisbane Lions,

I think it will be tight for 7th and 8th between St Kilda, Essendon, Melbourne, Freo and Richmond with some experienced players, but a lot with newbies, this season is gonna be close

With the returning of 10 players, and with the rookies such as McGrath, Parish and Francis, then they will have a strong team. If not top 8 this year, defs the year after, but yeah, I put them in 8th because I reckon they'll bounce back and return to great form

My 2017 Predictions:

Premiers: Sydney Swans
Runners-up: GWS Giants
Minor Premiers: GWS Giants
Brownlow Medalist: Adam Treloar
Rising Star: Will Setterfield

Alrighty, for my votes:

Brownlow Medalist: Dustin Martin/Nathan Fyfe (Will be a drawn medal)
Rising Star: Jordan Galucci (Hopefully he gets enough games with Adelaide)

Premiership: GWS
Runner Up: Geelong
Minor Premiers: Geelong
Brownlow: Dylan Shiel
Rising Star: Powell-Pepper

2017 Ladder Predictor

1 - Geelong

4 - GWS
5 - West Coast
6 - St Kilda
7 - Fremantle
8 - Essendon
-----------------
9 - Melbourne
10 - Western Bulldogs

12 - Carlton
13 - Brisbane
14 - Port Adelaide
15 - Richmond
16 - Collingwood
17 - Gold Coast
18 - North Melbourne

How'd everyones predictions go?
I got 6/8 for the top 8
and 4/18 positions right, rising star wrong, but nearly the brownlow (said dusty/fyfe drawn)

Premier: GWS
Runner-up: Geelong
Wooden spooner: Brisbane
Brownlow medallist: Danger/Bont tie
Coleman medallist: Franklin
Rising Star: McCluggage but hopeful Burton gets enough of a run to have a chance
Your team's finishing position: Hawks 6th
Your team's B&F: Hawks - Tom Mitchell

These were my predictions back on Feb 10 this year. Not too far off really, pretty happy with these guesses. Not too many would have picked Burton as the Rising Star winner.
