TLA Traders 2021 Official Thread

I heard the reason behind the extra cases and reduction in starters was because Ampol or Caltex (have heard both) put in a huge order and to fill this order, starters had to be reduced and cases increased.

Either way, I hope the starters that do make newsagent shelves are not searchable.

$12 per starter this year also.

Looks like priority boxes only available with case purchases?

Pre sale for the much anticipated 2021 NRL Traders will commence 19th January.
The official release date is scheduled for the 11th March (Subject to change).
Cases / Boxes / Starter Packs / Albums will be available from our website.
There will be a package deal involving cases and the much sought after Priority Boxes.

Where do you find this?

They have been searchable every year so far. I wouldn't expect that to change.

That is why I am hoping for a change ! The ability to search them just brings out all the things that bad about this hobby.

I noticed in the cricket starter packs TLA have just produced, the back section was perforated to make them easier to open. This is a step forward for TLA.

So now it’s pretty much pointless to purchase the starters than isn’t it? Besides the extra card, you get the same thing as three packets from a booster box. I doubt many starters will sell then.

I doubt it will make a difference. The starters will fly off the shelves, adding a numbered hit in as a bonus card was a very clever thing to do.

still no reason not to buy starters over loose packs if you can IMO, same price plus the bonus card and not like the odds are any worse than box boosters cause its the same product. I still expect them to fly off shelves, trading cards in general have had a big year with covid but especially NRL has been a huge winner (relative to its expectations), even traders became a lot harder to find mid-late year. I expect the nrl market to at least cool down a little considering our progress vs covid is better than most of the world and we'll probably see a few people back out of the hobby. (With all the covid collecting booms, popularity of the coles/woolies little shop/disney/etc, and supermarkets being the only place to go early on in covid i wonder if the micro figures wouldve been successful again)

As for what's in the set itself hopefully something interesting or different to previous years' sets, theyve been pretty formulaic albeit successfully so, would like to see chart toppers and the like in main sets again

Good point. Only thing is, they don’t distribute the starter packs much out of the city areas. Guess I’ll have to buy some online....

It’ll be interesting to see if they stick with the coloured STARTOONs. I don’t see why they’d change them, but who knows with TLA nowadays.

China is charging more, because they have to pay more the tariffs they put on the coal, wheat barley , wine etc.
Now every bastard is going to pay more for there stupid eating of every thing on the planet.
Apart from greed on tla"s part.
go for it you greedy f".
thats a ridiculous thing to say and quite racist....without China printing the cards they would be even more expensive

What if we dropped the price of the minimum wages in Australia? Not only would we not have to do business with shoddy China, we can have Australian made trading cards, which won’t fall apart after breathing on it.

its the companies that buy the cards who determine the quality of the product by what what they spend on production of that product...all items are made to a budget determined by the producer

Makes a lot of sense now. Just wish we’d get a little more Quality Control nowadays. Who am I kidding though, we’re talking about frickin TLA. Their motto is “If it ain’t broke, let’s damage it”

Also, it’s kind of ridiculous how the cards are made in AUS but they get sent to China to be packaged. It’s a little inefficient if you ask me.
