Good luck to Nat Turner and his circle of collectors/investors.
I will be sticking to Beckett for the few cards that I do decide to grade in my collection.

Any reason why? Is Nat bad for the industry/ collector or hobby? I just curious as I honestly believed that the bubble would burst but this seems like it will keep going for the foreseeable future.

I have nothing against Nat turner, I mean the guy spent $400K on a green PMG Jordan! But there is a conflict of interest here. Just think, a grading company got sold to an investment group led by a millionaire card collector. Imagine Crown Casino being sold to a group of it's high rollers.
Either way, the sooner we move into A.I grading, the better.

Incredible move for Nat Turner and his investment partners. PSA have done a great deal to their business branding and identity during these trying times, the new submission methods are a breeze to work with, and the site looks great! So with Nat stepping in, I can only see it evolving more over time.

Beckett really need to look at the PSA website and apply updates to better their own, it's ridiculous how out of date it is.

Literally feels like browsing the internetz for the first time during the dial-up era. And the pop reports... headache!

Also a bit more care into the quality control of encapsulating cards. Not sure if you all have experienced similar, but my last lot of subs have been loaded with dust particles in the case, and some inner sleeve scuffing.. bit of a joke really considering the prices per card they are currently charging, and the turnaround times... need to seriously get it together.

Both companies need some serious innovations. Will be interesting to see what Nat and co do in the way of changes. He is very meticulous with record keeping and one thing both companies need to change is the population reports. People cracking out one graded and re-subbing or cracking out of one company and sending to the other messes with pop reports like crazy.

Quality Control is a JOKE at the moment. Foreign objects in the majority of graded cards it seems. And PSA cards don't even have sleeves within the case, I wonder if this will change?

Patch authenticity could also be recorded. A joint effort with Panini would be the most amazing step but might be too much hassle. At least some kind of cross check/basic research on high end cards.

That would be an amazing step forward! Record each patch and it's authenticity!. Imagine if Panini had scans of each sheet of RPAs, Patches etc for each product line they drop, then those are forwarded to the TPGs to track.

One thing I noticed lately that stood out to me, was the SGC company adding the serial number to the slab. Would be a nice addition for BGS and PSA and may stop or at least minimize people cracking out cards, trimming/altering like an edward scissorhands/Zohan 2.0 and trying to pass off as pack fresh unaltered. Haha.

You are right, all the TPGs need work! Definitely has been somewhat refreshing to see PSA do something about their site though.

Just sent off 50 cards in a PSA personal sub, so I should see those in 5months or so. Still waiting on BGS slabs from June and a recent NFL lot in a 5 day, plus re-slab of my Giannis select with a busted up slab and particles in it :/

I think having someone who is in the hobby owning a company like this is amazing!

Just look at what has happened to Beckett. Not that I’ve done a whole heap of research on it but I’m pretty sure they’re owned by a bunch of investors as opposed to a collector and their site is ancient.

Nat is the best guy to own a company like this, he doesn’t grade his cards for any reselling value cause he doesn’t need the money. He collects for the fun of it.

I’m actually interviewing Nat on the 15th of December for the new trading card magazine I’m putting together. The interview was originally booked for the day the news broke about this and he had to postpone. I’m pretty excited to see what he has planned for the new company. If you want to hear about it you’ll need to subscribe the magazine (it’s a free publication).

probably a good idea that it was postponed, might have more to talk about on the 15th! huge scoop, subscribed and can't wait to see!

in regards to price hikes?

Yeah.

I think it's good that times will eventually shorten due to the sheer amount of baseball base cards not getting sent in anymore, but the instant flippers will now think twice about sending to PSA, hence reducing the need for them to hoard product from retail outlets!

I think the flow on effect could ultimately lower prices and demand.
