Around this time of year I get a little itchy wanting to know when Team Coach will be released. Anyone got any updates?

More importantly when do we find out that Prize Cards are no longer in folders!! ha ha

Probably will be the same as very year. We get a first look at the release via an advert is the Footy Record that comes out just before the pre-season challenge begins & it will just say "released late March"

But maybe this year will be different.....but probably not.

Hopefully with no issues such as the Essendon saga of last year, they will be able to have the website up and running before round 1. Really it should just be a matter of changing the cards around, and playing around with some fonts / images.

Maybe, but for as long as I can remember the cards never are released until the start of round 2.

Even in 2015 when the season didn't start until April it was still round 2.

But until we see the advert in the Record we won't know for sure.

I have managed to locate the Record - sadly the Teamcoach ad doesn't give us much!

All very 'secret squirrel' this year (yet again!!!)

Some pre-sales on ebay but only common team set & folders, with the following descriptions (but all very vague)
  • Release date mid March to end March
  • Folders have later release date then cards
TC have a tried and true format, so wouldn't expect too much change - although last year's silver/gold combo card was a real shock & caught dealers off guard with pre-sales.

So no doubt more cautious this year, with a 'wait and see' approach.

But we go through this same BS every year with TC. Having released cards since 2001 you would think by now they could provide a pre-release flyer and stipulate an actual release date. Oh well... it is what it is!

I'm hoping they go back to separate silver and gold cards this year. The combined version wasn't bad for a one-off, but I preferred the old format. What would you guys prefer?

With the larger common set size - 234 cards in 2016 (198 in 2015) the silver/gold combo was IMO a real bonus, and made collecting a lot easier (& a lot cheaper!)

Maybe like the prize cards changes..too many complaints from parents as to how hard it was for their little johnnies & joanettes to collect all the different card types

But for me the real problem was the coating used on those silver/gold cards - it was a nightmare for IPs - particularly when the clubs provided the players with Sharpies at signing sessions. So many clubs have them - makes you wonder if the AFL hasn't done some sort of deal with those as well!

Personally I think the bigger issue is the pop-ups. IMO they are a waste of time & have a real detrimental effort on the pack insert ratios. But it's probably cheaper to get some sort of vague characterture of a player then use an actual photo.

But if TC have in fact lost the contract to supply AusKick, it will be interesting to see what they do to maintain their market share for that target market.

But with the pack price remaining at $2.99 as it has for many years, no point getting too worked up about anything.
